(ThyBlackMan.com) The Iowa component of the Ron Paul 2012 Presidential campaign announced new members of its “Farmers for Ron Paul” nationwide coalition formed to energize voters in America’s unrivaled agricultural sector.
The new “Farmers for Congressman Ron Paul” members hail from Warren, Pocahontas and Jackson Counties.
“I support GOP Ron Paul for many reasons, but as a small Iowa farmer, I support his stance that less government is what is needed and we need Washington out of our lives and business. He strongly opposes the National Animal Identification System (NAIS), which is just big government trying to put yet another burden on the small farmer and perhaps putting us out of business.
In addition Ron Paul wants to eliminate the EPA and restructure the FDA, both of which limit what we can sell and how we go about selling it. Farmers need Rep. Ron Paul as he is the real deal, and he will stand up for our rights,” said David Swaim of Milo.
Mr. Swaim and his wife have their farm for a year and a half. It consists of 11 acres on which they produce poultry and hay. Mr. Swaim is also a veteran from Iraq.
“GOP Ron Paul is the only consistent candidate for president. He’s is steadfast in his adherence to the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. Ron Paul Congressional record of never voting to increase taxes and opposition to undeclared wars makes him the only appealing candidate to both the mainstream GOP and the middle of the road independents opposed to prolonged, undeclared wars. Dr. Ron Paul would push to end agricultural subsidies and government involvement in the free market of agricultural products,” said Dale Roewe of Laurens.
Mr. Owens owns a 1,100-acre farm that has been in his family since 1882. The farm employs one person aside from Mr. Owens’s family, and produces corn and soybeans.
“Going back many, many administrations, government farm policies have done nothing more than de-populate rural America. Recent food scares created by corporate sized processing facilities led to the signing of The Food Modernization and Safety Act, which came close to regulating all food grown for human consumption. On June 9, 2011, Executive Order No. 13575 established The White House Rural Council, with a mission to ‘… coordinate and increase the effectiveness of Federal engagement with rural stakeholders, including agriculture organizations, small businesses, education and training institutions health-care providers, research and land grant institutions, law enforcement, State, local and tribal governments, and non-governmental organizations regarding the needs of rural America,’” said Jim Blitgen of Bellevue.
“This is way too much government where it does not belong. I stand behind Dr. Ron Paul, as he is for less federal involvement that takes away states’ rights and more importantly my personal liberties. I do not want to be told what to do on my land,” said Mr. Blitgen, who has owned his farm since 1962.
Mr. Blitgen owns 90 acres and mostly produces alfalfa hay, but has an acre dedicated to growing vegetables including tomatoes, squash, onions, carrots, peppers, potatoes, whole oats and wheat. He also has 4 horses. Mr. Blitgen is also something of a local hero as last year he helped ameliorate the damage caused by frightened horses running amok at the 2010 annual Bellevue Parade.
Messrs. Swaim, Roewe and Blitgen now serve on the “Farmers for Dr. Ron Paul” national advisory board. As a first basic step, those wanting to join the “Farmers for Ron Paul”coalition should visit http://www.RonPaul2012.com/Farmers.
Oh, I agree. Dr. Boyce Watkins please invite Dr. Paul for a conference, or interview. I think that would be awesome.
Doctor Boyce Watkins,
Please invite Dr. Paul to be your guest. I think it would be an illuminating discussion.
Outstanding article. I like it.
The time is overdue that Americans begin thinking like Paul. The culture needs a revamping or super charge if you will that invites common sense to table of discussion. To follow the same talking points and policies of the past decades is to accept the demise of this great country. It is no longer good enough to boast about bombing other nations who don’t emulate the US. It is no longer acceptable for the Federal Government to continue enforcing laws that empower “big agra” and stifle small agriculture establishments–empower “big pharma” but restrict small natural and herb establishments–empower Wall Street banks with bailouts on the backs of tax payers and cripple small banks with regulations.
It is unconscionable to continue living in fear of a tactic such as terrorism that is as old as the earth and be willing to give up all of the protection of freedoms afforded Americans under the historic ammendments to the Constitution. Before all Americans could really experience life with these critical protections, the Bush administration snatched them from right under Americans’ feet with the Patriot Act legislation. No questions, no debate, and no protest–Americans blindly accepted illegal searches, wiretapping, assassination of citizens without a trial, and restrictions to freedom of speech. Why? Decades of “War on Terror” propaganda by establishment politicians and media outlets justified the Patriot Act, a document barely read by the representatives who voted for it. Ron Paul did not have enough time to debate the Patriot Act in the last debate at a more intricate level but everyone should be reminded that the Patriot Act was written before the horrific events of 9-11.
It is no wonder why farmers rally around Ron Paul. Ron Paul’s ideas of sound money, small government, non-intervention in foreign disputes, more individual responsiblities and free markets are the only ideas that make sense. There is nothing extreme about these ideas.
It’s all coming together!

The biggest reason I support Paul is his pledge to end global policing. You have to have a massive amount of financial credit at the national level and the ability to inflate the money supply at will to finance wars. That’s been true going back to the Romans. And that massive need for credit and inflation at will lies at the heart of our distorted financial system. Everything suffers for that, particularly new wealth creation that leads to job creation.
All that seems like high fallutin’ econ talk until you consider a personal analogy. Suppose by law you had to make payments on a $50,000 loan that got you nothing in return as a baseline. Call that your ‘war’ loan. Then you had to make payments on a $150,000 mortgage loan for a house on top of that. So to get that $150,000 home you actually have to make payments on $200,000 worth of loans.
Or let’s say you have a credit card with a $5,000 limit, but the first $1500 by law was a ‘war’ charge for something that got you nothing in return. So you have to make payments on $1,800 even if you only use it to buy a $300 TV.
That alone is bad enough, having to make payments on loans or credit cards far in excess of what you actually get. Now throw in something like AIG and others making bad bets on the economy who you then have to bail out by law. That throws another $15,000 loan on top of the $50,000 loan on top of the $150,000 loan you have to make payments on just to get your $150,000 home. THEN on top of that a housing bubble collapse causes that $150,000 home of yours to be worth only $130,000.
That we are not presented a direct bill upfront to finance global policing but the money for such get’s taken out of our hides indirectly obscures the real cost of global policing.
No matter our color, we all are getting screwed over big time by President Obama and would continue to get screwed over by all the republican presidential candidates outside of Paul when it comes to the cost of global policing. And that all falls on top of getting screwed over by President Bush for the same thing in the previous eight years.
Now here’s the REALLY hard to believe thing: If you are old enough like me to remember getting a hamburger, fries, and a Coke from McD’s for less than a buck and have seen the cost of basic things double, triple, quadruple or more in your lifetime because of inflation, NONE OF THAT HAS TO HAPPEN!!!!! Inflation year over year over year — printing more money each year than the total value of all goods and services in the country — is a deliberate choice by the government to make global policing possible since WWI sucked us all into financial la-la land. And wages NEVER increase as fast and as consistently as inflation.
That Paul is the only candidate that has a handle on all the bad effects of global policing and inflation and will take the necessary steps as President to reign those two things in is the biggest reason to support Paul.
We’re all being played as chumps who supposedly can’t understand anything more than whether our wallets have enough in them to cover the grocery or light bill but it does seem that blacks are played the most by both democrats and republicans outside of Paul. Throughout history, race and ethnic relations always seem to revolve around not enough to go around, real or imagined. We’re sitting on top of enough to go around. But it’s always been the game on the part of the 1% to suck the value out of the 99% to enrich themselves while the 99% are stuck with the rough go and often turn on one another to get enough.
Even if you don’t end up voting for Paul, you got here to read this so check out what he has to say about inflation and money. Just google Paul and money, inflation, and war. You’ll find out that ten dollar bill in your wallet or purse is only a promise. And what you get for that promise is only what someone will give you for it. And at any time what someone will give you for it can vary widely, and not in a good way.
I want my civil liberties!
Ron Paul 2012
Bring back all of the American Family Farmers,
not
multinational corporate monster farm factories
I appreciated the article. Thank you.
just plowing along ron paul 2012 thanks
I wonder how many politicians in recent years have passed legislation that have negatively affected the livelihood of the average farm operator in order to get a kick back on the side to improve their personal wealth while destroying the lives of Joe and Jane American? Farmers in Iowa know this that is why they are siding with Ron Paul.
I may not be black, but I find myself drawn to Thy Black Man for journalistic integrity, and therefore, invited by the quality of content, consider myself a “guest” within the halls of this consortium of thoughtful and civil discourse.
Carry on, gentlemen (and ladies), your readership demographic is becoming diversified as it grows.
hey neil, they already know, and they support him because of it, try reading the article before making uninformed knee jerk statements..
“Ron Paul is silenced in the media because he poses a threat to too many people making money by corrupt means”. this is it all in a nutshell.
and the truth keeps marching on Hallelujah, Hallelujah.
You and I know Ron Paul won’t back down from championing an end to nation-building boondoggles and policies that overextend our troops to fulfill a globalist agenda.
For years, Dr. Paul has warned of the dangers to our national security that come from using our precious resources to put other nations’ defenses ahead of our own.
As President, he will lead the fight to secure our borders instead of the one between Afghanistan and Pakistan.
He will work to guarantee our troops are only sent into battle with proper congressional authorization and everything they need to win quickly and come home.
Obama = Romney = Perry = Cain = Gingrich = GOP = Democrats. Different puppets, same deceitful/ traitorous Federal Reserve/Bankster masters.
Gingrich, Perry, Romney, Cain = medical care dictatorship, $16-Trillion/bailouts, endless wars/empire, free health/education/food/house/amnesty for 3rd world invaders, racist quotas, bankster funded campaign. Thats not all.
Gingrich = endless wives, $1.8-Million Freddie-mac bribe.
Cain = Kansas Federal Reserve thug, “Libya swirls in my head”, unauthorized finger in panties.
Romney = abortion, gun control.
Perry = Gardasil for little girls, “niggerhead” on farm, “oops, whats the 3rd one?”, “Bank-of-America helping him out”.
End the wars/empire, end the federal reserve/IMF/World Bank/BIS/UN/WTO, end racist quotas, end TSA/DHS/ADL/SPLC and other Orwellian crime syndicates.
Ron Paul will restore sound money, strong national defense, liberty, free enterprise, local government, strong traditional families, Western Civilization.
Ron Paul is all about personal freedom and thats exactly what we need my brothers and sisters. He reminds me a lot of Dr.King in a sense that they both believed that FREEDOM FOR ALL is key. America isn’t the “land of the free” like the man says, the constitution says WE THE PEOPLE, not “we the government!” So my black brothers and sisters, stand up for FREEDOM and proudly vote for Dr. RON PAUL!!!!!
Ron Paul isn’t perfect. He expects people to be personally accountable for the decisions they make. Such an attitude is foreign to the people who expect handouts from cradle to grave. It really doesn’t matter to them that government would be smaller, less expensive, and more responsive to the things it is supposed to do.
He also thinks that we should actually make friends with other nations instead of buying them with tax dollars or dictating their internal issues.
Yep. Let’s vote for more of the same. Anyone but Ron! Status quo is good to go!
Heh.
Ron Paul is against government subsidies, like farm supports etc because these programs initiated during the Nixon admin actually do not help the farmer (in the sense who is a steward of his land) but instead only makes huge multi-national agribusinesses too large to fail and these businesses are the ones that poison our food supply with the use of GMO’s, pharma use in livestock as well as destroying the farmland and ground water due to chemical fertilizer use that strips all life from the soil. If we want our food supply to be safe and our country back…Ron Paul 2012
Well, how many of those farmers will still like Ron Paul once they realize that RP is against (well, unless he’s a hypocrite) government subsidies, like farm supports etc?
“Fine minds make fine distinctions.”
I am amazed that thyblackman presented us readers with a truthful article on Dr. Paul. Thank you thyblackman.
Let us remember that Ron Paul is the ONLY presidential candidate Democrat or Republican, that stands up for our rights!
He will upon being elected, for example, free all nonviolent prisoners arrested for drug possession. That is a very non racist position he has taken. We know that our black brothers and sisters are the overwhelming majority of such “criminals”. We can’t say the same for Obama. He is fine with our children being arrested when they pose no threat to others.
Ron Paul is silenced in the media because he poses a threat to too many people making money by corrupt means.
