(ThyBlackMan.com) Watching five members of the House Women’s Caucus unleash their fury at Rep. Allen West for telling Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz to “shut the heck up” was comical. Their press conference reminded me of a Saturday Night Live sketch. One couldn’t help but laugh when Rep. Jackie Speier excoriated West with this statement “Sticks and stones will not break Congresswoman Wasserman Schultz’s bones, and neither will Congressman West’s Blackberry.” Is this the best statement Speier could come up with, a childish saying kids use to tease each other?
What’s all the fuss about? After West left the House floor Wednesday, July 20, 2011, Wasserman Schultz proceeded to lambasted him for supporting the House Cut, Cap and Balance bill, which would raise the debt ceiling.
“The gentleman from Florida. who represents thousands of Medicare beneficiaries, as do I, is supportive of this plan that would increase costs for Medicare beneficiaries, unbelievable from a Member from South Florida,” Wasserman Schultz said.
West took offense at these accusations because Wasserman Schultz made these remarks after he left the house floor, which was a cowardly move because West couldn’t respond to this outrageous statement to her face. Wasserman-Schultz thought she would have the last word. Well she didn’t. West had every right to email her he would not tolerate these personal attacks made behind his back. West wrote:
“You are the most vile, unprofessional, and despicable member of the US House of Representatives. If you have something to say to me, stop being a coward and say it to my face, otherwise, shut the heck up. Focus on your own congressional district!
I am bringing your actions today to our Majority Leader and Majority Whip and from this time forward, understand that I shall defend myself forthright against your heinous characterless behavior……which dates back to the disgusting protest you ordered at my campaign hqs, October 2010 in Deerfield Beach.
You have proven repeatedly that you are not a Lady, therefore, shall not be afforded due respect from me!”
I think West was absolutely right to send her that email. The Congresswoman apparently isn’t used to people standing up to her or having a louder voice than she does. Wasserman Schultz is no shrinking violet. She also happens to be Democratic National Committee Chairwoman and frequently appears on TV acting as the party’s shrill, over-salivating spokesperson, serving up a stew of nasty attacks on Republicans.
Let’s not forget in June, Wasserman Schultz declared the Republican Party wants to “literally drag us all the way back to Jim Crow laws and literally-and very transparently-block access to the polls to voters who are more likely to vote for Democratic candidates than Republican candidates.” Wasserman-Schultz was railing against Florida Governor Rick Scott’s proposal requiring residents to bring photo identification to the polls to vote. But invoking metaphors of Jim Crow separate but equal laws is VERY un-ladylike not to mention unprofessional and racist.
The gentle ladies of the House Women’s Caucus were up in arms, calling the West/Wasserman Schultz face off an example of the gender discrimination running rampant in the hallowed halls of Congress. This is nothing of the sort and the gang of five women would have been better off saving the theatrics and sophomoric statements displayed in their news conference for a variety show.
West remarked in an interview on the topic about the pervasive double standard in the mainstream news media that glorifies Democrats and vilifies Republicans.
“We continually allow liberals to do whatever they want in attacking conservatives. And of a sudden, when a conservative stand up and says enough then people all want to sit back, especially liberals, want to play victim,” said West. “She’s not a victim, she’s been attacking Allen West for sometime,” added West.
What’s really bothering Democrats is Rep. Allen West is a great politician who happens be black and Republican. Adding insult to liberal injury is West’s message of limited government and individual rights is making black liberals question their servitude to the Democrat party. This really irks liberals because West plays against “type” or rather the stereotype that all Blacks love drinking the welfare state Kool-Aid offered up by Democrats every election cycle. Well we don’t!

I see a pattern here, Julian Gibson and now Crystal Wright posting something that is so rediculous, I can’t help but question their motives. Crystal’s first priority is to identify his or herself as a conservative. The black chick reference in the website name is suspect, in that black ladies would not refer to themselves as a chick. Julian chooses to defend Michelle Bachman of all people and Crystal picked Allen West who is a total nigro. John, is trying to dignify these fake posts, by these fake people by responding with objective counter points. You can’s argue with these people, because they don’t believe what they are posting themselves.
Really, you believe that these two things are the same?
Couple of points:
1) Congressman West left while Congress was in session, after he made his remarks. Was Representative Shultz supposed to hold her comments until he came back?
2) Schultz made an argument about policy. West made an ad hominem argument. To say that Shultz was “vile” and “despicable” is orders of magnitude worse than what Shultz said.
Let’s be objective.
