(ThyBlackMan.com) He has been in the news for abusing his ex wife and kids and is one of the most famous boxers in the 21st century: Floyd Mayweather Jr. –is the weather if you catch my drift. He changes up so quickly that you don’t know if it is raining, snowing, or hailing outside. He will never be compared to Sugar Ray Leonard, because he isn’t that graceful. If you check out his Twitter feed it says that he is not money—he makes money. My question is that all you do is make money? I mean isn’t there more to life folks than money.
Well in his opinion probably not. One of Floyd Mayweather Jr. best friends’ 50 Cent is no longer standing by his side and decided to jump ship and support his opponent this year. And, I personally believe it is because of how this young man portrays himself in the spotlight. Additionally, when Floyd Mayweather Jr. went to jail and was released earlier this year – he went back to his old ways. I guess somebody wised up in his camp and was like no you can be self-destructive all by yourself.
As a boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. has knocked out a lot of men in his short career and is a champion, but in his case at what cost is what bothers me when I look at him. Floyd Mayweather Jr. glorifies the myth that money will make you happy and get you whatever you want in life. I hope that someone does reach out to this young man and help him realize that he is a machine being used up for quick goods.
Thankfully, Floyd Mayweather Jr. has not become an actor or rapper (though he has said a few things on a few tracks) – he does know his own lane. However, he is a father too. And, I often wonder if his children will become abusive due to his lackluster appeal in regard to raising them.
I guess I have more questions than statements when it comes to this young man. Floyd Mayweather Jr. is trivial and unique all in one sentence. Sometimes you have to let things play out in life and see what is going to happen before you just start judging an individual not believing that they can change. I wish only the best for this young man. Floyd Mayweather Jr. made a name for himself and he is talented, but money is the root of all evil. Truth be told that he is a talented young man just in search of his better self – I hope in the future. Ase.

Can’t really hate on Floyd. He has reached heights never achieved in his brutal sport. His success and vision is an inspiration to so many young men of all races across the board.Even though you had very negative things to say, you are still writing about him. Keep on waiting for Floyd to lose. NOT GONNA HAPPEN
LOL… Speaking about a man like you all know him or something… If you want to bring in spousal abuse and black boxers, why don’t you put in the names of Jack Johnson (the first black heavyweight champion), Muhammad Ali (iconic figure in boxing), Sugar Ray Robinson (considered by many to be the greatest boxer to EVER live), SUGAR RAY LEONARD (the “graceful” boxer you so eloquently described), Mike Tyson, and anyone else that may fall in between. By the way, I wouldn’t compare Leonard to Mayweather either. Mayweather seems to be the drug-free type (Leonard used cocaine back in the day). Not taking anything away from Leonard, but you gotta realize that MEN are just anatomies of FLESH and BONE. NOBODY’S PERFECT.
Since you spend so much time paying attention to his flashiness and over-indulgence, why don’t you pay attention to the work he puts in to make sure he keeps his undefeated record in tact? You mentioned that you read his twitter a lot right? Then have you ever payed attention to the amount of love that Floyd gives his children (just by looking at his twitter)?
Floyd Mayweather doesn’t owe anybody a damn thing. The only people he needs to provide for is his family.
I share your concern about this young man. In some ways he appears completely lost in others he demonstrates an intellect unlike no one else in boxing. His intellect: given his style, punishment averse, he’ll likely exit boxing and live a healthy life without brain dysfunction. He got out from under Arum/his promoter and no longer gives up a big chunk of his purse. The real BAD part, the money he saves in promoter fees/theft, plus some, he gives to luxury car dealers, jewelers, bookmakers and strippers. What is it with black athletes and bling? He has no concept of financial planning or wealth mgt, just consume/ spend. Unfortunately, like others, he’ll ultimately go broke. Such a shame.
Sugar Ray Leonard ducked Aaron Pryor, has less fights then Floyd, has losses on his record, and doesn’t posses the skill or boxing i.q. of Floyd Mayweather Jr.
