(ThyBlackMan.com) Let me see if I understand this. The person who reads the news on TV is called a “commentator?” A COMMENTator? Implicit in their very designation is the expectation that they are providing editorial opinion. If in nothing else, at least in the title that these reporters carry, the media is being truthful. . .
The Republican challenger to the president, we are told, will be decided in a contest between a fellow forced from Congress for corruption, turned multi-million dollar lobbyist and now running as a Washington outsider against a man legendary for shifting positions in perfect synch with the political winds and whom most Republicans despise.
And oh yes, the media will concede, there is also the candidate with the best organized campaign and the most devoted followers, and who offers the clearest alternative to Obama, has never wavered in his views and who is consistently ranked in the top tier in all the polls. But, we are told, don’t pay him any mind. His economic policies are wacky and completely out of synch with reality.
Why then, one might ask, does he have such support and loyalty? And how can we be sure that his ideas are really off base, if he is being discounted out of hand without the chance for the people to hear him?
And what about the fact that Republicans tout themselves as the Christian, family values party while one of the two said to be top contenders is twice divorced, thrice married, and is the man who led the campaign to impeach Clinton for being unfaithful while he was being unfaithful too? And also the other said to be top contender doesn’t belong to a traditional Christian Church. Meanwhile, the third, forgotten candidate doesn’t carry any of this baggage.
Ron Paul has a good chance of coming in second or even first in the Iowa Caucuses, given that these three hour plus marathons will take place in the dead of winter in one of the coldest states, and his supporters will definitely turn out under any weather conditions and stay until the bitter end, no matter how long that takes them.
At that point the obvious will happen. Ron Paul will burst full blown upon the scene. And when he gets his long overdue hearing in the public sphere, he’s likely to further shore up his support. Will he get the nomination? No one knows. None can see the future. But all can see that there is a concerted effort in the media to try and ignore him.
What would happen if he were to get the nomination? Who knows if he would win? But America would. We would be given a genuine choice between the established mainstream position, on nearly everything, and that of a truly oppositional point of view. At last, we, the people, would get to choose.
Philosophers have long wondered what would happen if an irresistible force met an immovable object. Looks like we are about to find out. Ron Paul is an irresistible force, and the establishment is implacable in its opposition to him.
I suspect that, if he were to get the nod, it would hit DC like an earthquake. The members of both parties would scramble to make changes in everything they do, and everything they stand for, in a frantic attempt to blunt the policy differences between Ron Paul and Barack Obama. And it would be up to us to decide if these changes were real or merely cosmetic. One thing’s for sure. There’ll be hell to pay if, and when, Mr. Smith, I mean Dr. Ron Paul, comes to Washington!
Staff Writer; Arthur Lewin
This talented author has just published a NEW book which is entitled; AFRICA is not A COUNTRY!.
I guess we can ALL rely on morals to feed our hunger or Newt to rid us of the “Food Stamp” President! As for Ron Paul being ignored, it was he who made the decision to forgo the Don’s debate which is a missed opportunity for Mr. Three Time Presidential Candidate who has occupied Washington since the 1970s to capture the attention of We The People. Perhaps the third time will be a charm for Uncle Ron who is definitely “Not a Mr. Smith”!
Maybe the article should be titled “Washington goes to Ron Paul”!
The establishment effort to ignore Paul is beyond blatant and still frustrating as hell. We the people will continue to fight our battle, we will not give up. Ron Paul is clearly our only choice, our only hope. The thought of any other candidate leading our country further into oblivion is mind numbing. Wake up and join the fight. There is great hope, a new wind is blowing, freedom is about to come back around, this time hang on tight for dear life and maybe we’ll keep it.
Thank you, Charles.
Okay Arthur I was a bit harsh on you, sorry about that.
Rand Paul worte a book called “The Tea Party Goes to Washington”, which might fit this article better. I agree that Ron paul is the consumate “Mr Smith” but he went to Washington a couple decades ago.
Rand, on the other hand is the newcommer, but he had a “Mr Smith” moment not too long ago. He is questioning John McCain of all people on the Senate floor over Senate Bill 1867. This is the bill that will allow terroists to be detained “indefinately”, but it also adds the ability of the government to detain American citizens indefinatley, and without due process.
Rand Paul was one of only 7 senators to vote against this bill. It has yet to be passed in the House. I know how Ron Paul will vote on this, but it will likely make its way to President Obama’s desk. I hope that he will veto this bill.
Here is you “critical insight” DG!! How could any self respecting black man support Barack Obama again? The War On Drugs is a war on our youth as Surgeon General Joycelyn Elders said. Now why is it that the most racist law, next to the Jim Crow laws, is still on the books? That is the joke Charles. So while the few ones that vote based on a free gov. check, vote to enslave us once again. Great Job!!
The new bunker and new law on indefinite detention is the Big Governments way of shoring up for the inevitable. When Ron Paul wins the presidential election the Obama is poised to use military force to hold power. The new law is just the means necessary to try to silence those who stand and fight. Just a theory. I hope it doesn’t come to violence for freedom.
Ron Paul Cheerleaders –
It was fun for a while, but now every time a post comes up they are like worker ants following the leader without any clear and cogent thoughts on their own.
My emulation of a Ron Paul commenter – “Yeah, that’s right, small government, kill the fed’
Come on. At least add some critical insight and some substantive libertarian theory as opposed to acting like a high school cheerleader swooning over the top jock on the football team!
Jas Dal, that is the imagery his campaign evokes, also that of the perennial American favorite, the underdog. . . Charles, I write about a wide array of topics, political and otherwise, and my name always appears on my articles. Put it in the search box at the very top of the page and you will see.
Ron Paul is Jimmy Stewart in Mr. Smith Goes to Washington – “Liberty is too Precious a thing to be buried in books” – http://youtu.be/GD-lFCsYOPs – Time to elect principled people to every government office. Newt Gingritch? He is the corrupt Senator in this movie.
Well, well, I see that the staff writer has finally put their name on a piece written about Ron Paul.
So many of you are now riding on the coat tails of Dr. Paul….lol
Of course your promoting your book too.
You guys are a joke.
