(ThyBlackMan.com) When I’m out in public sometimes I often look around at everyone and wonder which of these people are Christans and which of them are not. It’s sometimes very hard to tell the difference. I mean everyone is wearing the same type of clothing, having the same types of conversations, and carrying themselves no different that anyone else.
How are we going to be a light to the world if we do not let our light shine? As Christians we are SUPPOSED to be different and stand out from the crowd. If we are “fitting in” then something is wrong.
If I am a Christian male and my pants are sagging just as much as the guy who is not saved how am I influencing him to do any better. I understand that no person is perfect and we should all be renewing our minds on a daily basis, so I’m not judging anyone, but as Christians we should set an example for people to follow as we follow Christ. We should never allow ourselves to be brainwashed by societal norms when we have the Word of God to stand on. If you do not stand for something you will fall for anything.
Our choices have to be those that are informed by the Holy Spirit. As my pastor said this Sunday we should do things that do not displease God. Pressure from our peers or so-called friends only hinder us from being all that God called us to be. Even when looking for a mate, as a man of God I find that task daunting at times because some of our women of God are wearing the same “freakum dresses” as they call it, that some worldly women wear. I’m not saying that you should judge a woman’s value by her attire, but how can I tell the difference between the two?
We are all a work in progress, but that is no excuse not to try our very best everyday and continue to be “a cut above” as children of the Most High God!

Brother let me first say I enjoy reading you blogs/editorials they are insightful and a refreshing take on life that most black bloggers don’t care to give. Second, this has been a conversation I have had with many people we are all “Works in Progress” but if there is no progression then what is all the work for. I personally believe as a Christian my generation and the one’s behind me ( I am 28) don’t fully understand who they are worshipping and giving thanks to. My generations and the older generation have fallen to the ploy of these “Gimmick” churches. And at the end of the day they still preach about self.
I had a conversation with a friend of mine this past sunday. I think as far as Black Christians go we have our practice of worship all wrong. Jesus never secluded or confined his message to or in a church building. He walked amongst the people and shared the message with EVERYONE. I study other religions and I am still learning but one think I envy about the Muslim and Jewish faith is before they reach that right of passage to becoming Adults they have to learn about themselves. As African-Americans we are satisfied with a one month “overlook” of our history in this country and we all flock to run to these mega-churches to feel a sense of belonging. 1st) If you can’t tell me what God said and op to tell me what you Pastor, Reverend, Minister, or Bishop said YOU ARE NOT A Spiritual Fruit 2nd) If you are more worried about what the person next you has on YOU ARE NOT A Spritual Fruit 3rd) If you act as a heathen 6 days out the week and become hollier than thou on Sunday YOU ARE NOT A Spiritual Fruit.
We all fall from the tree but God takes that seed from that season and replants it to grow next season. If you can’t see that happening in your life maybe it’s time to take a step back and re-evaluate your worshiping practices and your faith.
I have one question to ask….If Jesus came back today and walked around the world and evaluated each “Church” how many buildings do you think would be standing when he ascended back into to heaven? My answer very few is any.
