Human beings, through the usage of empirical science, have acquired the ability to manipulate the weather through electromagnetism, and certain chemicals which are punching many holes in the guarded canopies of earth especially the ozone layer, and to confuse nature altogether.Gamma rays from the sun are heating the earth. Everything tempered by God that was ordered are now effected.Birds no longer know when to build their nests.Honey bees and wasps no longer know when to build their nests.Fish have altered their migration from the shallows to the deep because they are confused by the activities of human beings. Many African American religious folk today speculate as to why their attendance at church has lessened? Here are three reasons why this is occurring: ( 1 ) We have changed our religious metaphysical beliefs; ( 2 ) We have changed our world view; and finally, ( 3 ) We have changed our religious practices. Ancient African American metaphysics postulated a God determined universe that included our understanding of the relationships between God’s universal cosmology, all of nature, and human practices, as King Solomon said in the book of Ecclesiastes in the King James Version of the Holy Bible, “there is a time and season for everything.”Many of our ancestors believed that the book titled ” The Farmers Almanac” helped them to accurately determine the appropriate cosmology, time, and season for doing everything from planting seeds, to harvest time, planning celebrations, to scheduling surgery. ” The believer thought that it was best to get oral surgery when the “sign was in the head “, that way there would be less bleeding, and the surgical wound would heal faster. They also determined that the best time to slaughter hogs, and other animals was in the coolness of the fall when there were fewer gnats and flies. The sign, given by God, had to be right for the act to be successful. Ancient African American metaphysics proceeded from the assumption that God give the signs via the cosmos, and man, plants, and animals all interpret the signs, and then act according to their nature. The cock still crows at daybreak and sundown to signal the start and end of the day. The fish keep cool in the deep during the heat of the day, and warms themselves in the shallows at days end. Isis eternally finds Osiris in the spring, and once again loses him in the fall and winter. Holy men have forgotten how to be holy, and interpret God’s signs, how can they teach ?
