On the subject of Education:
How about some news on the great work that Lebron James, and his cohorts are doing
in Akron, Ohio. To my mind this is, at the civic level, the most important Education
project going on in America. Targeted directly at the underserved, low income, mostly under performing children in Akron. A program, in part in conjunction with the
public school district. But much more than that, as it actively involves the parent(s) of these children, and their economic wellbeing. Materially, the program
consists of the “I Promise” school; a renovated hotel for homeless families of attending children, and a soon to be completed amazing community center. At the core of all this is “the family”: a brilliantly structured expression of strengthening family and community, in all of it’s aspects. I hope that you might
assign a journalist to do a more inclusive onsite report, of this remarkable project. It is drawing widespread attention in the education community. What is more important than the education of our children, and the wellbeing of their families; the latter being essential for the mental, and physical health of the next, upcoming generation. Lebron has put in motion a beautiful idea, underpinned by community, commitment, and love.
