I appreciate the article as well, great conversation piece. I believe there are other believers like myself who had the experience of witnessing what you witness and not truly understanding what was happening to that person but being a person who has now had that experience on several occasions, I can say that I understand it now and it is an indescribable experience. I just want to comment that in my church, we have altar workers for both male and female where they will form either a protection barrier around the individual, I've seen and personally I am an altar worker and I've grab babies from mother's arms etc. We have had First Ladies even come and form protection barriers around people, help guide people out of the pews, moved church seats out the way etc. And if there are no altar workers have ushers or other church members clear out the way, but I know that once for myself that when you allow the Holy Spirit to use you and flow through you it is no joke. Just allow that person to praise and shout for God, we may not understand what God brought him or her through and she/he is just praising God in his/her own way. When I didn't understand praise in the past, the way I do now it was because of a lack of relationship with God, truly not being delivered myself of some things but once I got saved and truly living for Jesus, transformed indeed, I now see others shouting, praising and dancing as a beautiful and so happy to watch especially when I know that individuals past/story and how far they have come, it is true beauty.

Also, it is a good conversation to have with kids to explain to them what they are seeing, because last Sunday I had a little girl come to me and ask why everyone is crying because of course she didn't understand that everyone was crying tears of joy and happiness. The fruit of the Spirit was indeed in the place, and she asked me are sweating or crying lol. Children are definitely observant and will ask questions, but I love it when they do, teaches us and shows us adults to take the time and explain things to help them understand so they will not have to be frightened like you had to be.

Thanks again for the article, great conversation piece once again.

I appreciate the article. I do have concerns about what is being taught in churches that are biblically inaccurate. For starters, there is no biblical basis for "catching the Spirit". The Holy Spirit is not a "baseball" that can be tossed from God to our mitt. For the repentant believer, He (as a member of the triune godhead) dwells within the Christian believer upon repentance and faith. This is not to empower us to "shout", but to glorify Christ in our redemption, turning us away from the sins of the flesh and worshipping Him at all times through our daily interactions with Himself and with others.

We have the Word of God and He has given us many additional men who have written biblically accurate words on living the life of a believer. We are without excuse if we continue to teach and preach things that are extra-biblical because they appease the flesh. I am not saying that we cannot and should not feel emotionless when we experience the Word of God in a transforming way, but nowhere does Scripture command us to operate without a sense understanding.
