It seems to me that you’re feeling jealous of Bishop Jakes. Rather than attacking him, it would be more constructive to recognize the positive impacts of his leadership. As a man of faith, his focus is on saving souls, not on critics. Despite the negativity, he is protected by his faith and commitment.

I don’t like any of the TBN ministers because they are all ‘fake’ as far as I am concerned. I follow the Philadelphia Church of God, where Saturday is still the true Sabbath. I have learned that the true feasts of God are not Easter or Christmas because these are PAGAN and go back to ancient Babylon, as does the Vatican and the Roman Catholic religion. All the denominations came out of the Catholic church and the Vatican. I listen to the Trumpet Daily each and very day. If you search through the NT, the words Church of God is mentioned 12 times. Read John 17. Christ kept his apostles in God’s name (Church of God). I wish there was a true church of God near me because I would be attending. Nothing else compares anywhere. Trust no man. Trust alone in God and his holy scriptures!

And let’s not forget the pay for prayers scam these preachers use. Actually that’s a pretty good scam, some do it without the pay. At one time I had thought about self-proclaiming myself a Bishop, or maybe a high priest (but no one uses that anymore), and offering to pray for “donations”, then live off the proceeds. In the end, to much work and red tape, not to mention a morality problem with this scheme. However, I will still accept no strings attached donations, but you have to do your own praying. I can’t do it for you, it’s all about your relationship with God and I don’t want to be your god-proxy or mediator (I lack the qualifications and self-proclaimed authority).

I am always amazed that proponents of religion have such a myopic view of creation. If you listen to their teachings, one would naturally conclude that earth is the center of the universe, that man\’s existence here is nothing more than a laboratory experiment and the vastness of space is mere decoration. Despite all the religious teachings, there has been no significant evolution in man\’s conduct since the Garden of Eden. Therefore we may have to conclude that there is something deficient in man\’s makeup or that our religious institutions are void of the required substance to teach man how he should behave. The perfect place to start is leading by example.

Wow! That’s all I can say. This is a very good article. I got saved and baptized nearly 30 years ago in an Apostolic church. I was not Apostolic when it happened, but I believe now that the Lord led me there to get baptized in the Holy Spirit. Back then, religious programs were on TV “around the clock” and TD Jakes was extremely popular in my church. However, I never really took to him or all the other big-time preachers on TV. I read a few of the preachers’ books and enjoyed them, but I did not go crazy. When I made my commitment to the Lord, I meant it, and I was not following any man or woman–I was following the Lord. I already knew of too many Christians who didn’t go the right way. I knew of too many pastors who were fakes. My own pastor, a married man, was infatuated with me. I hadn’t done anything and didn’t even see it coming. I think he sensed that I was not the type, so he was “slowly” trying to come onto me. By the time I realized it, the Lord was moving me back to my home county over an hour away. Afterward, I heard from a church friend that he’d had a problem with women and had affairs with other single females in our church. It was awful, but, because I was following the Lord and only him, I was never one to blame religion, God or the church. I just kept going, pursuing God’s will for my life. People have to know the Lord for themselves. They have to have a personal relationship with Him. I have been reading and studying my bible my entire saved life. I pray daily. I speak in tongues regularly. He is on my mind continually throughout the day. I have never even thought about backsliding because I am doing the things to stay close to Him.

T. D. jakes might have had good intentions when he started ministry, but like so many others, he has fallen prey to greed, fame and love of self. What a pity as he could have done so much for Christendom with his type of influence. He falls headlong into the condemnationation of 1st Corinthians 2 and has placed himself even above the Word of God in his ” woman thou ART LOOSED’ when God has particular prescribed roles for women; among his many errors. I do hope this deceived minister can find his way back home before it’a too late
