Concur. Dr. King would not be pleased with the progress of Black America. America is a democratic republic and a capitalist society. Unfortunately, we focus on issues that do not create more economic opportunities-criminal justice. We get excited, and rightfully so when our individual rights are violated or when we get shot or murdered by the police, but it's ok to kill each other? However, the Federal government spends a trillion dollars a year. Our businesses and HBCUs get less than 1% of that, but that's ok or not important? To achieve Dr. King's dream, black leadership must understand the relationship of Federal investments to economic opportunities and get our fair share of federal research investments to HBCUs so they can evolve and create businesses and jobs in our communities. Dr. King's vision of equality is the first step, it's our responsibility to implement comprehensive plans that will result in our participation and OWNERSHIP of companies in a 21st Century world.
