Mr. Williams; I went to your suggested National Police Officer Selection Test and reviewed an example of this test and here is what I found: ( 1 ) The math test is relatively easy requiring no more than a tenth grade proficiency in addition, subtraction, division, multiplication, and determining averages and percentages. I suggest that the time limit given to answer these questions be extended from twenty minutes to twenty-five minutes; ( 2 ) The reading and comprehension requires no more than a tenth grade proficiency in understanding the meaning of words, and the significance of grammar and sentence structure to include punctuations. The time limit given to take this portion of the test is sufficient; ( 3 ) The overall improvements to help more African Americans to pass this test are to improve math skills and reading skills of high school graduates. More testing to prove proficiency in these areas are needed at the pre-k, kindergarten, grade school, high school and college levels. Thank you for your inquiry.
