As a retired English and Language Arts Teacher, I got to know my students through their writings. I could tell almost immediately if a student had plagiarized a writing, or allowed someone else to write the work for them. Misrepresenting your scholastic abilities by having someone else to write your papers for you can be grounds for expulsion from a given college or university, and also embarrassment before your professional peers. I would rather see a student grow in their writing skills with my help as their teacher than have them submit someone Else's writings to me as their work. If there is anyone in America who really need to be understood via their writings it is the African American. It mattered not to me if a student's writings were vulgar or wicked given the passion felt about the subject addressed in the writing as long as the writer accurately wrote what they meant, and meant what they wrote.
