Julie:

Thanks again. I did research Donald Bogle and signed up to get access to his archives of interviews with "history makers". I even found one of my former law professors was included in one of the interviews. Wow!

I appreciate you sharing...

Peace and blessings sis!

Danny & Julie:

You both have given me encouragement. It was not easy to take such a position on the movie.

Thank you Danny for the beautiful comments. As you say "Third Eye" insight? smile

Thank you too Julie for the beautiful compliment. The goal was really to address the unspoken aspects of the movie and help people-particularly sistahs-figure out why they may have had conflicted feelings about the Black Panther movie.

Ultimately, it was meant to add to the dialogue or share another version of the story's impact on our lives. We are all affected. And as the elder Neely Fuller states, entertainment is one of the nine areas of "people activity" under the control of racism/white supremacy. The movie, Black Panther, is no exception.

I will look up Donald Bogle. He sounds amazing. What a nice thing to say. I will try to live up to the standard in the future.

Wow oh wow
You gave me so so much to think about
And so well spoken, that I have to see it
Again to see what you’ve already seen
And it’s not that didn’t see it so much as
But not as deep. I like the way your text thrid
Eye was working over time to see your of
What Black Panther would have been
Instead of what is way.of course no two
3:00 hours movie can cover all that
May it should have, in that time span
I love your sense of natural inter vision
Beyond what was given and received
And all is can say is simply wow oh wow
Is sista lady you sure can write well...
So write on...

Sheila,

I consider Donald Bogle as the authority for analyzing our films and TV shows. Maybe you are the next Bogle and should seriously consider to write a book. We definitely need thorough critiques of how we are being portrayed in the media!

Greetings Mal:

Thank you for your comment! I am sorry that you found the article exhausting. Imagine what it felt like writing it? Just kidding, it was a pleasure and relief putting my thoughts to paper-a very healing process indeed.

I don't have too much to say about your comments because you didn't address any of the specific arguments or points that I made throughout the article in terms of my three counter-beneficial themes.

I do agree with you that the celebration of African Womanhood was Phenomenal!!

Kindly,

Sheila

I did see the movie in Africa with all African audience. The majority left the cinema thrilled. I was exhausted reading your interesting critique. There will never be a movie that deals with all the challenges we face. If the movie were to cover even a fraction of the missing element raised, it would run for a week rather than a couple of hour! Wouldn’t that be a great movie.

In the pan-african narrative of a united African states, country borders would be removed. In that ideal kingdoms that reflect the wonderful diversity of Africa would flourish. In that respect the kingdom rather than country of sa a DAVIS pan-african and reflects unity. Imagine how that kingdom could positively influence other kingdoms in terms of managing resources and technology.

How wonderful to see african women celebrated, not just on the screen but in the actresses chosen. Had those roles been filled by African American women we would be asking if there aren’t african actresses. We could also ask why there weren’t any African-Caribbean actresses in the film.

The ultimate wet dream for Africans every where is to demonstrate their ability to function without a whitey supervising them, cracking a whip across their back or governing their country - whilst been considered smart and intelligent. For the african Diaspora this is especially so. Imagine how utterly mind losing the people of wacanda must seem. I recently travelled with an educated professional woman to Ethiopia. Whilst in the beautiful city if Bahir Dar she commented: this is such a beautiful clean and well run city. I agreed with her. Next comment: have you noticed we haven’t seen one white or Asian person. The shock of functional and well run ‘black’ communities will always conjur up shock, awe and violent sickening g reactions in us. Why? Because we are confronted with an alternative lived experience. Perfect or not the filmic kingdom of wacanda showed an alternative.
Ultimately it was an action fantasy not a documentary.
