Your piece reflects what is wrong with the Democratic Party.

You are truly dismissive of a part of the electorate that is growing ever larger every day. You refer them as, "...the angry, frustrated, alienated, out-of-work blue collar in small town Ohio, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and parts known and unknown." You see what propelled Mr.Trump into office were members of the Democratic Party whose services have been brought by large corporations and wealthy donors. Their agenda is reflected in the trade agreement that was unfair to American workers. The policies of these wealthy benefactors especially corporate America is to seek the lowest skilled wage market it can find to manufacture products and then ship those products back to the United States. In the process of doing this, they shut down their operations in the United States, which may have been paying their workers a decent wage of $15.00 - $20.00 an hour. These corporations do this with out the federal government stipulating to the countries in which they set-up their operations some form of reciprocal benefits to American workers. The federal trade policy makers should be asking these countries, what can we sell you to offset any negative trade imbalances with us because of the shipments back into the United States of products that use to be made here. You see, China which has a population of 1.4 billion people can absorb every decent paying job, including these so called green jobs, in the United States, as we have a population of only 330 million people. As a result, the jobs left here in the U.S. are jobs that will not support in terms of pay the money needed to raise a family. This policy of seeking the lowest wage markets which corporate America is pursuing and which the Democratic Party has brought into with these generalized trade agreements, if pursued to their natural conclusion would put every decent paying job in this country in jeopardy. And for you as with most Democrats, you do not get this. However, Chuck Schumer, the Democratic leader of the Senate now gets it. Here is what he said after Clinton's defeat, "We did not have a strong, bold economic message..., We sort of nibbled around the edges. ... That's what we need and that's what I aim to do as leader. We're going to have a very, very strong and bold economic platform and message.” Donald Trump did not win the election; the Democrats lost it." Schumer is right and you are wrong, it is not the destruction of the Republican that will put Democrats back in power, but a strong economic plan which includes a Job Creation Plan and a plan to spur demand. And once that is accomplished, a plan to not ship that demand overseas without reciprocal benefits to American workers. Thefixthistime.com
