very sympathetic to what kap meant, and what the other players mean, but hate the idea of kneeling as a form of protest…you really piss me off so…i kneel before you? anyway all this protest to symbolic stuff won’t really mean much unless players drop their pants and moon the flag though even that would ultimately be a waste… while symbols can be strong for some people ultimately they don’t mean diddly…we can’t pay the rent with a flag or a statue and we can’t change a system by drawing graffiti on a bank wall..the owners probably support symbolic protest since it costs them nothing..like, football stadiums will be empty as a result of this and semi-rich athletes will take vows of poverty and quit sports? capital will make money from this, as it does with “climate change”, another deadly serious issue that has become just another brand in the marketplace…where do i buy my protest knee-pads?

Your assertion that people werent encouraged to stand for anthem until 2009 is completely laughable and makes me wonder if you have ever been to a sporting event or watch sports at all. As long as i have attended sporting events, the PA annoucer says “please stand and remove your hats for our national anthem”. Baseball, football, basketball… high school, college, pros it doesnt matter. Its about remembering that we are all on the same team. Owners dont “own” players like slaves as you seem to insinuate. They own a business and pay highly skilled workers very large sums of money for their labor. Those owners have every right to implement and enforce a code of conduct for their employees just like any other business. And of course the flag is soaked in blood, white black and brown. Sometimes good, sometimes bad but always moving forward. Serious like that I would like an answer too: Is there a time and place in history that you would rather live than the United States in 2017?

Say what you want, Julianne, but these demonstrations are not sitting well with the great majority of the American public. If they continue as they have, you’ll see an even more precipitous drop in attendance and viewership at the sporting events where they happen than you already are. And make no mistake, the NFL and the NBA are quietly panicking over this.

So if you want to be considered anti-American by most of your fellow citizens, no problem. But don’t be surprised or upset when those fellow citizens aren’t very interested in associating or listening to you anymore.
