I appreciate your references to various historic international documents of opinion supporting suing for independence when egregiously dissatisfied with the policies of a parent government. Since it was the late 18th century, "Revolution" was a popular and much debated subject.Especially among Frenchman, who really made a most grizzly mess of the whole usually messy process of political redress and transformation.Angry, bloodthirsty Frenchmen from either side got to act out a whole lot of sick violence during the French version of a "Democratic Revolution." But the secession of our Southern states was not so much a democratic uprising of an oppressed majority of poor starving peasant farmers or workers.Nothing like that at all.In fact, it was the initiative of a wicked and spiteful "aristocracy." A small but incredibly powerful group of extravagantly self-indulgent, fabulously wealthy, decadently immoral, shamefully lazy, sexually depraved, slave-trading, reprobate "aristocrats."Even the best of them, like the romanticized Southern Confederate "military leader" Lee was a real "Southern Dandy" of a giant plantation slave-breeder-and-owner if ever there was one. Just the kind of man that Abolitionist John Brown would have assassinated if he had but been given the chance. That Lee was educated on the "Yankee Union Government's" dime at West Point only makes more reprehensible his selfish and greedy act of treason. Especially in light of the fact that Lincoln was promising to financially compensate wealthy Southern planters for the loss of their slaves at a fair price. But that wasn't good enough for these rich lazy popinjays. They couldn't stand the thought of having to actually engage in the hard dirty work of farming themselves - like most Yankee farm family members did. And they certainly didn't want to have their fabulous profits reduced by having to actually hire and pay farm workers more than a meager mean bare subsistence wage, which was in effect all that they ever had to spend on their captive slaves. Slaves were so cheap, every elite planter's family member and white guest to the "Plantation" could have his or her own man-servant or maid-servant to wait on them hand-and-foot, night-and-day. What's not to like - so much so that they were willing to fight and die to preserve it. More importantly for the 600,000 Yankees and Abolitionists who gave their lives to end this inhuman debauchery, these sick Southern Dandies were willing to kill to keep their evil ways.It was an unGodly sick and sinful way of life. It all HAS TO GO - AND LIKE YESTERDAY!
