Michael Jackson & Prince: Kill the Rivalry.

(ThyBlackMan.com) It’s still hurts that Michael Jackson and Prince have left this earth. They were both legends in their own right. Michael Jackson yours were productions of epic proportions. The music, the dancing, the energy…people feeling so connected to Michael Jackson they would become overwhelmed by his energy and pass out. Prince was pure musical genius…instruments were an extension of his being.

So many found themselves in the depths of Prince’s music. Performances were a submergence into the ambiance of Prince and no one wanted to go home. Sometimes Prince would play late into the night and the people would stay.

Prince and Michael Jackson are necessary to very fabric of our music. So, in honor of Michael Jackson and Prince let’s kill the comparison. We need them both in the very capacity by which they lived. Ok, we know Michael Jackson has performances that are more of a production, and Prince is the pure musician, but the rivalry is old, and played our.

Michael Jackson and Prince respected each other as artists and we should do the same. Let’s be real…they are apples and oranges when it comes to style , but we love comparison and fussing about it.

Let’s be real some of y’all can’t enjoy a Michael Jackson and Prince listening session without comparing the two then getting into heated debates that become fights. Why can’t we just celebrate both artists, and take in what their music means to us. When this happens facts of any kind go out the window. Granted some of us will gravitate more to Prince, and other to Michael Jackson. This is fair as music is subjective.

The bottom line is both Prince and Michael Jackson are the embodiment of a greatness we will never see again. Let’s let that truth stand and let the ugly comparisons, and rivalry die.
