(ThyBlackMan.com) Eat your heart out James Packer because Mariah Carey has burned the wedding dress. Obviously her break up from Packer was far from cordial. “I Don’t” was certainly written as a response to her recent breakup with ex-fiancé and Australian billionaire Packer.
The release of “I Don’t” comes at what seems like almost perfect timing as far as promotion goes. The couple split in October following a blow-out fight on a yacht while vacationing in Greece after dating
The singer, who had a bumpy start to 2017 with a disastrous performance on New Year’s Rockin’ Eve, is back with a new collaboration with YG, I Don’t. The song, which was teased in the season finale of her E! docu-series, Mariah’s World is sending a strong message. The song takes musical cues from Donell Jones’ 1999 track Where I Wanna Be, which is also about splitting up with someone.
Her reality show (labeled as a “docu-series”) is in the middle of airing its short run, and it featured her recording the song in the final episode. With millions tuning into her TV program and media coverage continuing almost non-stop, her new single is already off to as good of a start as any artist could hope for. Now she and her team need to start the long process of promoting the track to radio stations and the public in the hopes that it will become another smash hit for the woman who is already one of the most successful recording artists of all time.
According to Forbes Magazine, in new music video “I Don’t,” Mariah lets a past flame know that he “treated her bad,” and that while he may think she’s coming back home, that’s not true. Carey has made headlines over the past few years thanks to breakup after breakup. In 2014, she separated with then-husband Nick Cannon. Last year, the singer split from her fiancee, Australian businessman James Packer, and tabloids wasted no time in picking up on rumors that there may have been a monetary settlement involved in the breakup. It’s not clear who the song is about (or if either of these men were the inspiration at all), but the singer clearly knows what she’s singing about.
