Marque, that’s what I’m trying to get us past. Don’t make yourself one of “us” against all “them.” Instead, try to reach out and find common ground with those who you disagree with. I don’t say it’s easy to do; “If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? And if you greet only your own people, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that?” But if you’re waiting for someone else to be the first to reach out, you may be in for a long wait. It’s up to all of us to reach out, or at least be receptive when someone else reaches out to us.

People can be united by spiritual belief and spiritual identity. According to God, that is most important and should always come first. We can be united by common goals. We can be united by patriotism. We can be united by race. but it is hard to be united as Americans when so many minorities and woman are treated as second class citizens. It is hard to be united as Americans when America still works against so many “black people” in thee courts, in the jails, with the police and with so many Trump supporters who are bigots and racists.
WHEN WE ARE TREATED FAIRLY, WE CAN UNITE WITH OTHERS.
