WAKE UP AUTHOR OF THIS ARTICLE

Carson got nowhere, did not understand politics or foreign affairs and changed nothing in politics. He proved that yet again the Republican party can grab and use a token who never had a chance. The last time it was Herman Cain. This time it was Carson.

I watched Ben Carson say people should subject their religious beliefs to the constitution. Wow, then he went on to say he knows plenty of people who have Muslim backgrounds but have been assimilated into American culture. So Ben Carson would have us all forget freedom of religion. Ben Carson would have us put aside the foundation of the belief systems we use to guide our lives, whether Christian, Jewish or Muslim. This shows Ben Carson does not understand Christianity because Christ never promoted you placing your government in front of your God. Nor did Christ do that as an example. Nor did any of the Apostles.

Ben Carson has forgotten that Christians are to be in the world but not of it. Carson's way of thinking is that we should place the world system ahead of our God. This shows Carson has religion, not a relationship with God. A person solid is his or her spiritual beliefs would never compromise that foundation by placing it behind man's government. Nor would he expect anyone else to. Such a foundation is the guiding light for the person's character, identity and hope for eternal life. BEN CARSON DOES NOT UNDERSTAND CHRISTIANITY, much less Islam. And his Facebook site did not have the courage to publish my comment.

Most people use their belief systems and guidance from their God in order to make decisions with integrity, peace, wisdom and in good conscience. If a person sets all that aside and decides completely based on the constitution, what if something in the constitution is wrong and needs to be changed? Let us not forget upholding the law once involved upholding slavery, upholding discrimination against women and upholding the murder of unborn children. If we cannot apply our spiritual beliefs, the military cannot allow conscientious objections and we are no better than the Nazis who said they were following orders as they burned the Jews alive.

We need to stick to the guidelines for who can qualify to run for and become President or change them. But what we should not do is to sporadically drop in other elements that are not there, elements that isolate and stereotype entire groups, elements of religious bigotry and discrimination. If we do this, we do not fix the problem - we become part of the problem.
