I contend that you are right in your comments when you say,

“One only need look at the pathologies in every Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) member’s district to understand why. Every conceivable economic or values index in these districts are well above the national average of worst indices: unemployment, crime, drugs, murder, pregnancy, school dropouts, etc.”

The CBC members are bankrupt of any ideas, plans, or legislative initiatives which would move African Americans to the next level. Many of them “could easily be swept out of office” if challengers could up with credible initiatives and money to enter Congressional races.

However, I disagree with you when you say,

“Our congressional leadership must invite these businessmen to sit at the table with them and their staffs to discuss issues like: reducing or abolishing capital gains taxes as a means of stimulating small business growth, accelerated depreciation, access to capital, Obamacare, and foreign taxes…”

You sound like the average Republican as he presents a rehearsed boxed answer to what ails this economy. This is where your piece goes of the rail and becomes meaningless. Oprah Winfrey has the right approach if you want to resolve the issue of creating more jobs from “the top.” Her buying into an ailing corporation, $35 million dollars invested in Weight Watchers, will inevitably create jobs as Weight Watchers puts that capital to work to right itself. She took a risk with capital that she had sitting on the sidelines. She epitomizes what capitalism is suppose to be about in this country. There are trillions of dollars that the wealthy have stashed away due to favorable tax cuts over on the last twenty five years in bond funds because they are unwilling to take a risk with it. They are waiting for the federal government to come up with a stimulus plan that will reignite the economy from the bottom through putting out contracts for rehabilitating our infrastructure. There is no risk in hiring a construction crew and putting them to work building roads and bridges with taxpayers money. You sir need to start preaching it is what you profess you believe and that is the capitalist message of risk taking, using Oprah Winfrey as an example.
