Joshua,

Thank you for this article. I believe you have touched on a very critical element in cultural differences which play a key role in many of the injustices we face today as Black people. You have brilliantly broken down talking "white" and how we have conformed to this as our standard American language used to gauge levels of intelligence, education, environment, and classism. Moreover, you've displayed the mirror for each to see their individual problematic image in this conversation.

This conversation goes deep for me in the sense of political issues, unjust policies and over policing in our communities. Through our language differences, in every aspect of America, we classify a person (consciously or unconsciously) who may speak "black". We do so by taking a stance of judgement in automatically assuming they maybe uneducated, poor, live in the hood, lazy and live on assistance. Therefore, they are systemically labeled as society's takers, non-contributors, etc....dehumanized, demonized, criminalized.

Would this play a role in police brutality? Could this be a reason we don't have fair representation for our communities? Could this be adding to the pool of mass incarceration? Is this another reason school funds aren't divided equally, and there is no investment in our children's education?

Thank you again for bringing this subject to the forefront. It's certainly worth our conversation.

Peace and many Blessings
