Once elected, the new judge goes through months of classes/training to learn guidelines, protocols, authority and boundaries. I would suggest that only fair and balanced people who want to make a difference and who know a lot about the law go for such a position.

As the author suggested, do your research because there are many municipalities that allow individuals to become judges without a college degree and the United States Tax Court allows non-attorneys to represent taxpayers in federal tax court upon passing an exam.
