Thank you Dr. Watkins for a well thought out, succinct and inspired post.

I was doing research into the tone and themes of Dr. King Jr., Malcolm X and Jay-Z concerning their advice to African Americans for achieving racial equality through economic power and willable financial independence when I landed on your page. I used excerpts from your post in my essay and in defense of my thesis.

I was also touched by your shout out to your grandmother. The wisdom of our seniors are rarely valued till after they are gone. And your reverence for her advice while she was alive is awesome.

I hope interacting with your page will give it some lift in searches for similar information so that more will find it and benefit from it.

With warm regards,

I've always spent time listening and asking questions of older people, weather I thought they successful or not. One of the best tidbits I got concerning this Commandment #1. LEARN any trade where you can offer a service and set your own price for that service. Even if you already have a good job, because a job now it is only temporary and you could lose it at any time. That advice came in handy when I got fired after 17 years working for AT&T.

Lawd, how low people have fallen, that any of that even needs to be said. There was a time when everyone knew common sense from the day they could walk.

You might as well add "Don't touch the stove when the burner is red."
