(ThyBlackMan.com) Marshall Mathers II or popularly known as Slim Shady/Eminem leaves indelible impression to everyone. He comes from a poor and broken family; to the point that he failed the 9th grade three times and had to change school after a few months. He has every reason not to succeed, but he doesn’t let these things pulled him down. He did everything he could just to reach the success the he is enjoying now.
Eminem gets going
Eminem is a fighter. He did his best to overcome all struggles and obstacles that come his way; be it a physical, mental, or emotional
Eminem has shown skills in rap, but most rap labels reject him because of his skin color. He is a father, but with unstable career and so he doesn’t have enough financial resources to support his family. Those reasons are enough for any sane person to lose sanity. It took a lot of struggles and hardships for him to reach success. Despite his success, he still has to struggle with his personal demons. His best friend was killed in 2006. He almost nearly died because of that incident. He was so depressed to the point that he collapsed due to overdose in 2007.
The fruits of his hard work
It took him literally 14 years before he was able to get his first break. As early as age 11, he was able to discover his rapping ability. He first performed rap together with his group, Bassmint Productions. Aside from rap, he also immersed himself with other things including hip hop, competing in rap battles, and work in various minimum wage jobs just to make ends meet. He released his infinite album in 1996, but it only sold a handful of copies. Aside from that, it was also during that time that he was mounting drug abuse as well as relationship problems, which leads him to commit suicide attempt. On the following year, Slim Shady EP was released, but it made a fewer copies than the first album.
His work finally paid off in 1997; but in a bizarre twist of fate. He joined the Rap Olympics where he came in second place. He left the place feeling disgusted, but that had made him worked for the Interscope Records. That very day changed his life and the life of his family.
At last, his more than a decade of hard work had finally paid off. It is true that Eminem’s road to success isn’t that easy. It is a rough road and there are so many struggles along the way, but what matters is that he has not given up. He remained determined and continues to do his best.
