The fact of the matter is that the playing field is not level. How? First of all many of these outside cultures have never had to operate in the American paradigm of racism that was fueled by 400 years of legalized slavery. When you have to dedicate a great deal of time just to be recognized for the fundamental reality that you’re another human being it takes a lot of energy that could’ve been used to grow a business. Secondly, as a newly arriving immigrant to this country there are certain low interest loans that the US government makes available to them so they can start their own business. Thirdly, in a lot of cases these immigrants can also get loans from their own national banks who are seeking to get access to the American money market. These sociological and economic realities both create an extreme vacuum that many, not all, immigrants often excel in. I would argue that, if many immigrants didn’t have these same advantages, the hair care industry would be owned and operated by Black women.

AS the previous comment suggested we are responsible for much of our condition because of our intense hatred of reality; we actually believe that we can choose what to believe; instead of recognizing reality; this is why we have unique problems that no other group faces.

WE as a people have been taught and warned by not just DR. CLAUDE ANDERSON but by people going back to FREDERICK DOUGLAS on how to live in AMERICA and the actual nature of the country.

NO other issue illustrates our ignorance of the politics of this country than the illegal immigration issue because a people who find themselves at the bottom of the economic latter in society would be foolish to ask for competition but not us it makes sense to flood the country with cheap labor than can only further impoverish us.

FOR those black advocates of illegal immigrants you’ll get your wish; a wide open border but remember there are 600 million central and south AMERICANS and they come from cultures that have little or no respect for black people and yes! they will take food right out of your children’s mouth and also remember you will not have any political power because the very political advocates who supported this invasion now have districts filled with LATINOS ready to vote them out!

IF there is any people on this planet that deserve to be poor it’s us because we did everything we could to be poor and stay poor, the third world awaits us and I guess that’s what we wanted all along!

One thing that occurred to me when reading this article, was hair industry (wigs, weaves and primes). This is the one industry were black woman represent over 95% of the consumers and complain that Koreans and Indians won’t allow them into the industry. I won’t go into the right or the wrong of wearing other peoples hair or changing the chemical structure of ones own hair. It just seems to me that, we are missing a major opportunity to dominate a $500 billion industry, based on consumption.
