Drake’s high school was highlighted by meeting a friend’s father who happened to give him a role in a TV show aired specifically for Canada. He was fifteen then. He was able to appear in that sow’s 138 episodes. This stint in television allowed him to help his sick mother and get through the hard times. This opportunity also paved the way for him to polish his musical talents. He had his first mixtape entitled Roof for Improvement. This featured Lupe Fiasco and Trey Songz. According to Drake, this mixtape was not much about content but it had something that is pretty straightforward and considered it radio-friendly.

Music continued to be his ticket to fame. Thank Me Later became his first debut album in 2008. The launching of the album in 2010 was attended by about 25,000 spectators where he gave a free concert along with Hanson at the South Street Seaport. Because of this album’s success, he was able to launch his second which was entitled Take Care in 2010. Since then, Drake’s rapping career continued to blossom.

His naturally endowed talent for music was further enhanced by his admiration to Jay-Z, Kanye West and Aaliyah. Lil Wayne acted as his mentor and the biggest of all his sources of influences.
