ERIC is confusing and exaggerating this story.

THE case where JP MORGAN set aside 25 billion is when JP MORAN ;WASHINGTON MUTUAL and BEAR STEARNS sold sub prime mortgages and the bonds along with them that turned out to be undervalued.

THE website DEAL BOOK recently posted this:
[COST ASIDE JP MORGAN MAY HAVE GOOD DEAL] posted 11/20/13

FROM 2004 to 2007 JP MORGAN along with WM and BS sold around 1 TRILLION dollars worth of mortgages and agreed to set aside 25 billion dollars about 2.5 pct .

THE article also says that JP MORGAN agreed to pay the FEDERAL HOUSING FINACE AGENCY 4 billion for buying the undervalued bonds but their actual claim in the lawsuit was the loss of 33 billion dollars that about 12%.

THE article says that all of the banks and investment firms were doing the same thing.

WHEN JAMIE DIMON was asked about the settlement he chuckles and says[you’ll have to ask them why they picked us ; but it could have been anybody].
