Love, what is the definition of it? In different places it means different things, which means once again it is not universally practical, but has been put on a individual basis. Whatever it is, it can not be achieved without key ingredients being provided, such as trust and respect. Due to the many images provided by Hollywood stereotypical movies and drama series, we have once again been brainwashed into thinking we know what really constitutes love. In many instances we have placed conditions on our ways of thinking that it has caused more problems than solutions. We have put barriers on who we can love and how we do so without realizing that we have lost ourselves in the process.

The role of women has transcended the old stereotypes as women have risen above them and have mastered the process of multitasking. The problem is that others have lacked the ability to accept change or simply have not allowed themselves the flexibility of adapting to the changes on an ongoing basis. As economical situations changed to the point that a woman could no longer stay home and play "June Cleaver", but rather had to contribute some income to maintain a style of living that satisfied their desired standard of living. Poverty was redefined as well when our white counterparts started seeing the effects of having children without wedlock and having their spouses run off to marry their secretaries, assistants, and other collegues mates. So hence comes the child support issues and alimony settlements which are still current today and highlighted on a daily basis especially when it involves people of celebrity status. To all the women out there, God bless you. But please keep your heads on straight and strive to be the best you can be. No matter what situation you may find yourself in, things can always be better. This day and time has produced situations that are resolved legally rather than worked out with the vow of better or worse being the focal point. As soon as things go south, people nowadays seem to justify bailing out.

I chalk the game up to unrealistic expectations which make achieving happiness a rarity among today's society. If people have made it longer than 20 years together, they are the exception rather than the rule. After observing a recent tv piece where sistas explained why they were single and successful, I had to damn near check into the emergency room to keep my blood pressure down. But thanks to Steve Harvey, who in the end told them what they did not want to hear, the truth. The bar of expectation in many instances was set too high. Jumping the race barrier added to my sadness as the concept of the grass being greener came to mind. I really have no problem with this except to say that you have to be ready when society refuses to accept this with open arms. Whether we like it or not people are not accepting of certain situations no matter what. In closing, ladies be careful and try to choose wisely. Although you deserve to have happiness, remember that it is not guaranteed regardless of your ladder climbing achevements. If you do not believe me just have a sit down chat without people who you deem as having it all and hopefully they will honestly open up to you.

Problems occur regardless of circumstance, but it is how you handle it. Success, money, and love are never wrong to obtain as long as your heart is in the right place. I am suggesting that you listen to Education from Dr. Dre as it is narrated by Eddie Griffin. Please hear it first and then think about what was said and how you may or may not know someone it applies to. Peace out, Papacool.
