I told the black boy that I mentored for four years, my “little” ,when he said, at the age of 8, that people looked at him when he was in a store. I told him that my white sons are looked at too, because young people were those they profiled as thieves of merchandiise and that the store owner paid for that merchandize and didn’t want it stolen from them and that it was like reaching into the store owner’s pockets and taking their money. I also told him when after getting out of the swimming pool and falling on the patio cutting his shin, bleeding profusely and having a large gash, that as I was cleaning him up and putting a bandaid on that ‘wow’ we were all the same under the skin; pink and fleshy. All of us are the same under the skin and we must get over the outer cover. The problem is values, not color; the Ten Commandments observance vs. no reverence. etc.

Please let us all give up on this racisim stuff and take responsibility for ourselves.
