So what you are really trying to say is....poor mexicans who climbede over the fence with nothing more than lint in their pockets can afford a valid id but blacks and elderly can't? Oh wait, your right there is only four years between elections so that means they have to save .50 cent a month for four years in order to afford an id? No no what you are really saying is that the free public library card that many locations accept for a valid id won't work either.....okay okay I get it the valid id you have to have to pick up your prescription medicine, to present with your ebt, credit or debit card at the register check out....that is too difficult to obtain and vote for the most powerful position in the world? Maybe that's too much to ask especially when people got burned, shot and hung to win that right.

Please find someone else to attack with those jessy jackson-al sharpton esque, weak excuses why black people should be treated like inferior helpless animals. By the way, do say they are sidelining the minority vote (its only niggers) because the government respects the latino vote but thet don't respect yours because you already have a list of weak excuses why you can't vote...20 dollars. For the cost of a pack of black hair weave from the chinese black hair salon you could pay for 50 id cards to help those poor people who can't help themselves.

Apparently the people who are inclined to post comments on your blog have either poor reading comprehension skills OR a Sean Hannity like compulsion to incessantly change topic.

However, I'll bite, since they keep harping on the ID thing. Apparently they are mislead to believe this is what it's all about. Sad times imho. Anyway... are all of you aware that in many states it can cost up to (perhaps more in some states) $20 to acquire a valid state ID. One which will be accepted at polls.

Now many of us can easily pay the $20 to obtain the ID. However many can not. I've known struggling folks who had to get their full weeks groceries on $20 before. Voting is not suppose to be a paid privilege. And whom among us does this exclude? It is the minorities, the elderly and the poor.

Sheila Agnew, you were right to bring up Dr. King. I often wonder what he would think about the lackadaisical fight his people now bring to the table. It brings me quite a lot of sadness, as I believe him to be one of the greatest men who ever lived. And what respect is being given to this many who fought so hard, sweat, tears and ultimately blood, to have people all seen equal and have access to equal human rights?

Thank god many of us on the more privileged side of life have woken up and realized that the cost to our own souls for not fighting for you is too great, and so we stand with you, even when you refuse to stand for yourselves.

Do a favor for yourself, read the REAL statistics on voter fraud. Find out when and where it actually happened and which candidates it was actually in favor of. Then when you've moved away from THAT red herring, educate yourself about all the possible voting law changes, and CRITICALLY think about how they may effect you.

@Sheila Agnew,

My apologies for coming off so brash, it was in no way meant to be disrespectful of you but there are many out here that decry many things like voting, not because congress is doing something or changing something but merely because it is a Republican behind the changes. I dont support either party but what I can tell you is that when there is a Democrat pushing an agenda, that agenda is almost always "socially" and "mentally" destructive to blacks. I would love to see proof where voting polls were turning away elderly and minorities that had legal IDs. If that was the case then those districts have a hug lawsuit on their hands because that is against the law. I did however see many new stories and article where in Democratic districts, dead people had voted and thousands had voted that were not even legal citizens. There is much corruption going on in the voting system from the electoral colleges, right down to the Unions taking their members money and giving it to one political party without the members consent. And as Jay Leno joked when referring to illegal immigration and America, "Democrats dont like the term illegal alien when referring to hispanics crossing the boarder, they prefer to call them 'undocumented democrat voters'".

Again I dont support either party and the reason why I have been pinging democrats in this topic is because the future power of their party rests on lax or no voting regulations.

Thanks for your article but I think there is more harm done to the black community when any race or nationality can just cross our boarders, vote for their own interest and push african americans to the back of the line.

Some people are so eager to say something they don't even take the time to read. First, I never mentioned ID in the post. The Voter's Act of 1965 was not about ID, it was about the right to vote, period. Many states even today were turning away people with proper ID's from voter polls, particular the elderly, minority and poor. DCarter910, not funny and I failed to see the humor.

Silly negra tricks are for kids!

The republicans were not trying to stop blacks but hispanics. They knew blacks would give their votes to obama. They didn't want undocumented (illegals) voting. In many districts it was clearly shown where jose and his 45 kids voted 12 times each. Now hispanics and gays are in power and neither one likes dumb n!ggers like you that think there is something wrong with having to have an id to vote. I need an id to get a library book but a mexican can choose your president with one. You deserve the high health care costs, 30 hour "full time" work week, high crime, expensive education, increased taxes, high gas prices, high food prices, political scandals and to stand at the unemployment line behind gays and hispanics.

I hate politics and those who whore themselves out to politicians for scraps. Also, keep allusions to christianity out of your politics because all those blood sucking ticks are self servant and so are those who whore themselves out before their table. Since MLK, if its a social cause that black people support, its probably a social cause that's destructive to the black community. "More Welfare Please"!
