Marcus - You made an interesting observation.

However, I can say that I am conservative mostly because I am black.

Blacks in this country are mostly not respected much more beyond our ability to entertain. This view is enforced by a powerful media industry that bombards us 24X7 though music, industry and other proproganda. This very site is probably subsidized by those same interests.

I see liberalism as promoted by the LEFT a threat to my ability to live as independent person, a threat to my ability to control and maintain the economic lifestyle needed to accomplish the goals and dreams for myself and family.

The main difference in rhetoric between Jesse Lee Peterson and Malcom X is that Malcom criticized "whites" more harshly than blacks. Much of what Jesse Lee Peterson has stated about the black community was said by Malcom X decades ago. Black folk will accept you airing their dirty laundry as long as you indict the white community.

Jesse Lee Peterson assumes that his listeners already understand that when the "individual" changes, that person can change the world. So, why talk about white folks? Are they all powerful? I thought God was all powerful.

If you don't believe that, then liberalism is the right choice for you.

Good article. This is similar to an article I wrote back in 2006 on the Black Concussed Conservative.

The essence of the article is that for Black conservatives, what is more defining of you and your nature...the Black or the Conservative.

What I have found in my numerous debates with folks on both the left and the right, that for Black conservatives, the ones that are most out their (IE Jessie Lee Peterson types) are the ones that allow the conservative to dominate the Black and therefore become more aggressive and intentional on proving that "Black" has no meaning in their ideology and therefore they try to overcompensate by being more conservative than the norm.

I believe this is the Black conservative that has dominated the mind set of many Black's when you say "Black Republican".

As a result, more centered, or true BLACK conservatives, whose perception of Blackness trumps and Black elevation shapes and colors their conservatism are dominated by their CONCUSSED brothers.

But what is ironic is that there is also a civil war amongst conservatives in general now.

I have personally viewed the black common sense conservative as some one you can do business with for the improvement of black america as opposed to the "Yall sur boss" or "Sambo" black conservatives like Jesse Lee Peterson.

I don't know why the author failed to mention Louis Farrakhan or Malcolm X as true black conservatives for the black community.
