We go into debt trying to look like we live like white people, we have adopted many of their cultural traditions trying to act like white people and (as the Honorable Elijah Muhammad said) we even wear their names, denoting ourselves as being still tied to white people as defacto property.

What we have failed to do, in the meantime, is to establish an economic system that supports a social infrastructure that supports not only the essentials of life: food, clothing and shelter, but also a system that allows us to grow into activity in the global economy – not as just consumers, but as producers.

Black Americans are among the most educated and wealthy Blacks in the world, and many of our brethren overseas are watching and waiting for us to do something that will change the game (so to speak). But the game won’t change until we decide to change. Our waking up to the time and what must be done will force those who have ruled over us to share their power with us, and they don’t want that.

Nevertheless, nothing is more powerful than an idea whose time has come…
