Wow this makes me really angry.
Why does his color matter so much to you? That's so superficial- you're missing the point of your own damn bible! Jesus is the messiah, the one who is to absolve you of your sins and save you from damnation. He is the son of God and a holy presence- his teachings are that of acceptance and love for all, and of being a wholesome person because you want to be, not because you want others to think you are. His message was to do good because you are a good person and because you want god to judge you as such, rather than to do good because you want those on earth to think you are good. This is the point of Jesus Christ, not to be an idol for you because he is black or because he is white. Who knows, maybe he was Asian looking- anthropologists don't really have any idea what people of the fertile crescent looked like back then. The point is: his race shouldn't matter: his message should be the most important thing. Why does his appearance mean anything to you at all?

Does it make you angry that an atheist and non christian is pointing out your superficial behavior? It should, this is sad. Learn your message, don't get caught up in the irrelevant details.

Wow, I can't believe people get so caught up in this. When white people depict Jesus he's white, when we depict him he's not, with some cross over in between. I know many white people who believe he was much darker, and some of us who think he looks like Brad Pitt, but does it really matter? The same psychological principle behind it is why little girls that want a Barbie doll that looks like them. It's not a conspiracy or hate fueled.
Either way I can't believe people still believe in this crap. If any of you really wanted to learn about this you'd realize he was just modeled after Horus & Mithra, who were basically created as a way of worshipping the sun & harvest. Arguing what color he was is like having a fight about what Superman's favorite marshmallow based cereal would've been.

This question is not limited to Jesus alone. One has to only go deep into the pyramids and see the picture. Black was dominant color of the globe at this time period. Alot of the images seem to have their noses smashed in an effort to take away the feature that was in vogue at that time period. When Hollywood jumped in and whitened Cleopatra, we knew we were in for it. History must find its way back to incorporating the truth. Seems to me that there has been a great effort of injustice done to our people in trying to whitewash historical facts. Even today Blacks have their version and the others have theirs, so somewhere in the middle lies the truth. We know that Thomas Jefferson had been a hypocrite and had black children with Sally Hemmings, but let the other version be told, it was his brother that brought those children into the world. Jesus was not some handsome European Aka Brad Pitt looking guy according to the Bible, handsome was not in his equation. But in seeing the epics that Hollywood has provided, he was not black and neither were any of the people in the movies, except for slave depictions. Even when they examined the Shroud of Turin, which should have been the cloth that the body of Christ was wrapped in, the 3d face depiction came up with an olive skinned individual. Go figure. As time has passed other facts are forthcoming that prove that people are off the beaten path when this issue is brought up for discussion. All I really wonder is that if Jesus was indeed Black would denominations stop being religious. The world is not ready for Him, maybe that is why He is taking so long in coming back.......Peace out, Papacool.

This is a writing of mine which touched on this issue.

Great Lies We Have Been Told About Jesus Christ Exposed

Lie: The Jesus portrayed in the media with long hair and fair skin is the real Jesus of the Bible.
Truth: There is no reason whatsoever to believe that Jesus Christ looked like that when he was a man on earth. From reading the gospels we see that Jesus was hard to point out even among his own disciples (John 18:3-8) which means that, however he looked, he must have looked like a typical first-century Jewish man. We are commanded in the Bible not to make a likeness (image) of God according to man's corrupt understanding. It is idolatry. Since Jesus Christ is God who came in the flesh (John 1:1-5, 14) any “guesses” at how He would have looked which go beyond what's in the Bible are idolatry. The media's typical depiction of Jesus is influenced by how Pagan gods were typically portrayed in art, along with attempts throughout history to make “jesus” popular to the masses (obviously counterfeits of the real Jesus made by greedy people hoping to profit somehow from them). The media's depiction is certainly not influenced by the word of God or permitted by the word of God. Scrap the “media jesus” from your mind completely. It is a shallow, cheap, pathetic counterfeit of the real Jesus.

Lie: Jesus had only nice, positive things to say.
Truth: Not so. Jesus proclaimed the whole truth about God's righteous standards (Matthew 5-7), man's rebellion against God and evil deeds which prevent one's salvation when continued in (Matthew 15:18-20, John 3:18-20), the reality of the eternal fire of hell for those who refuse to forsake their sin and rebellion against God (Mark 9:43-48), our need to turn against the course of this world and follow him in obedience in order to be saved (Matthew 16:24-27), and other hard truths. The multitudes who heard Him were amazed by the great authority He spoke with (Matthew 7:28-29).

Lie: Jesus only contended with the corrupt religious leaders of Israel because they tried to impose their standards on everyone else.
Truth: Jesus did contend with the religious leaders of Israel more than anyone else, but not for the reasons many think. He contended with them primarily because they did not do what they told others to do and because they focused on looking righteous externally since they were more concerned about man's praise than God's. However Jesus himself told the people to do what they said which lined up with God's law (Matthew 23:1-3) and also told everyone that even our secret works will be brought into judgment, so therefore we should rather fear God who is able to destroy both body and soul in hell (Luke 12:2-5). He also rebuked the multitude for not discerning their need to get right with God despite their capability and wisdom in discerning earthly matters rightly (Luke 12:54-59).

Lie: Jesus accepted everyone and still does.
Truth: Jesus was a friend of sinners and He shocked some cold religious people by the people he associated with on some occasions. However that does not mean he accepted everyone unconditionally. Jesus Himself said “They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.” (Mark 2:17) Jesus came to save us from our sins (Matthew 1:21). He didn't ignore them or deny that that they will destroy those who continue in them. Many will not be saved. Jesus DID demonstrate and tell us the right way to live and lovingly provided an opportunity for us to be saved/accepted by God by dying for our sins and rising again. We can now be justly pardoned and delivered from our sins by Him on the condition that we turn from our own way and sins in repentance and turn to Him in obedient faith (He is Lord as well as Savior and must be received as both- and thus His word must be kept in honor of His authority). Therefore the Bible says “What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid.” (Romans 6:1-2a) “Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered; And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him” (Hebrews 5:8-9) “And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.” (1 John 2:3-5)

The Bible warns of “another jesus” “another spirit” and “another gospel.” (2 Corinthians 11:4) Just because someone talks about “jesus”, doesn't mean that they are referring to the Jesus of the Bible, even if they think that they are. This is a serious matter of eternal consequences! The real Jesus also said “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” (John 14:6) We need to be in His way, following His truth, in order to have His eternal life. We only have this uncertain life to prepare to meet God and nothing else. We are responsible to read the Bible for ourselves, seek to understand the truth with our whole hearts, and follow the truth wherever it leads us. There are many deceptions and only one right way. Don't let any lie keep you from following the truth that is in the real Jesus and rob you of eternal life.
