I cannot believe that this is even being discussed. The is in fact more reverse discrimination in this country than there is any other discrimination. I am veru apposed to homosexuality, and yet I am discriminated against because of my beliefs. I am not able to teach my children that this is not only wrong, but God apposes the homosexual life style. Minorities need to get off their soapbox and realize that they are not being discriminated against, and move on. Mitt Romney is a good, God fearing man, it is Barrack Obamer that is the racist and is dangerous to not only America but the rest of the world as well.

Most of the comments below are right on, but before we give up the crumbs of the Democrats, to get nothing from the Republicans, the Black community needs to come together in order to build a real power base. That means building a strong economic base. Until we do this, we won’t have real power to change anything worthwhile in our community. The sad fact is, in politics and everything else, money talks and the rest means nothing. How can you change anything when you control nothing and have to rely on the same people who enslaved us for everything?

I am a white female, and I am also scared that the fact that Romney could very much win. Many don’t realize how much of their daily lives could be affected by this and how we could essentially go back generations rather than move forward as a country! Republicans are an openly racist, sexist, and ethnocentric group that are stopping the growth of our nation positively. We cannot afford 4 years of Romney. Not only will the rest of the world stop taking the United States seriously, but the United States will fall into a demise so dreadful that I don’t know what will be needed to get out of it.

What if he does? If we are still under the illusion that a president — any president — can solve the gigantic problems Black people have to face without us throwing our full weight behind solving them, then the election of Mitt Romney may well be a good thing. He will certainly shatter the illusion!

Although I may not agree with everything in this article, I do think it is important to get the black community thinking about voting patterns. Why would the Republicans offer the black community anything if they know that we won’t vote for them no matter what? And why would the Democrats take the black community seriously if they know we will vote for them no matter what? Voting is like the consumer relationship to a business, but with politics. If you’re not getting the results you want as a customer, you can threaten the business by always taking your money somewhere else- this should be applied to voting with all ethnic groups, genders, religions, etc.

The Republicans are beginning to see that the Black community can have an affect and swing votes- they learned that from the election in 2008… why do you think Mitt Romney showed up at the NAACP conference? To show off his good looks? Early on no one really expected Obama to win, but the youth and the black community helped substantially in electing him… the black community should learn to use that to it’s advantage and vote as independent individuals- not as a voting block or base… so that politicians are fighting for your vote.

I think you have missed the context of Obama’s term in office. He has been called everything under the sun to limit his mobility to help blacks. over the last 3.5 years if he had ushed for policies that helped blacks then he would have lost re-election before it happened. If he had pushed for more black leaders he would be labelled an affirmitive action President.
He is in a no win situation as far as the African American is concerned.

I have clients who are black whom I have done business with over the phone for many years. Once they find out I am black they know that using my services as a vendor would be looked at as racial favouritism in there offices. Their career growth becomes at risk . Sad but true. Obama is in the same boat!!
