….I’m afraid the barn door was open and the horse is gone. The word is everywhere and will not go away any time soon. Tried to teach my daughter, almost 15, not to use it but her peers override me. She of course uses it in the two ways stated by Mr. Smith. She makes a clear distinction between nigga, who are her friends and color of skin doesn’t seem to matter and nigger which is reserved for mean blacks. It is what it is but I don’t think the use of it is as harsh as Mr. Smith feels it is. This area is about 60% white-30% black.

Thank you for this courageous, and thought provoking piece. Racism in America is among the strongest of social orders in this land. From this bigoted litmus test network an order of rhetoric flows into the media that judges it by its level of stupidity, it being superior. Even the most naive of morons knows that the term ni***r, or ni** or any reference thereof implies a shiftless, barrel-eyed, brutish, mindless half-human slave-being.

This is a great article. For those Black people who believe they’ve taken back the N- word, let an angry white man call them that and see how loving they feel for the word. If this isn’t a perfect example of the slave mind, I don’t know what is.
