I forgot to say thanks to Dr. Watkins for reporting this story. I hope that in the comment section people will write solutions instead of criticising the author. For my part, I don't have solutions except divorcing myself from White people in the figurative sense: by having friends from other cultures (I have a great Chinese friend for instance, she is super smart and gives me valuable information (that I never got from the so-called White friends who make sure that my people know about their privilege: for example, one of them is studying medicine for free, it is paid by the government, a privilege that no Black people will ever have in America) for my business that I am building to make sure that I will not be anymore dependent of the mainstream system who always exploited us).

I live in Canada and suffered from rednecks' behavior practically all my life. This article confirmed to me that I was not supposed to live around White people. It is funny today (before I read this article) I thought about my trip in the past to the Bahamas. I felt so good to be around my people. I felt home. I didn't want to come back to North America.

I rather think a solution -- given that bleach is a chemical that can do serious harm -- would be something rarely done seriously in the history of the country. Texans tend to be all fired up about law enforcement and the "war on terror" -- let them once deal sharply and severely with the young trainee DOMESTIC terrorists against Black citizens found at UT, and that will do more than all the diversity training in the world. Those students with their bleach bombs need to be expelled, and if just one bleach bomb has found its mark, then assault charges need to be brought and hate crime enhancements sought. It is past time to be playing patty cake with young white folks who want to follow in Klannish footsteps in the 21st century.

While I did not attend the University of Texas, I think it a mistake to attack the character of an entire university based upon the actions of a few students. The conduct of these students is by all accounts deplorable; however, this article consists of largely baseless rhetoric that offers no real solutions to the perceived problem. Both Texas A&M and UT have initiatives in place to increase on-campus diversity with the idea that more interaction between students of different cultural and ethnic backgrounds will serve to create a dialogue and prevent the occurrence of events such as the one described in this article.
