I, too, love Michelle Obama, but I don’t at all think your concern is misplaced. We ALL need to be careful about reinforcing negative stereotypes, just so we can be “hip” or “cool”. Being called a derogatory name of any kind is NEVER cool or hip.

Mrs. Obama has done a fantastic job supporting the community and getting us all to eat, move, respect our enlisted, support the president, and be the mom in chief. Her support of the Dougie is her way of being hip. I have no problem with it.

I’m sure our FLOTUS is using the cleansed version and I have no problem with her suggesting that we move and eat healthy. In fact, I support her dougie and Let’s Move programs – 100%. We do have too many fat bodies in our community and the nation as a whole. She also spends a lot of time on Military families, supporting the president, and being an exemplary mother. So, getting hung up over the “dougie” is a waste of time. You should get upset with our communities inability to open up beauty supply stores, cleaners, and fast food stores in our neighborhoods. That’s something to get all riled up behind and eradicate before moving on to non-issues.
