I disagree with the portion of how he treated her publicly until AFTER the baby. He walked ahead of her for pap photo purposes and when he needed to get to the side of the car to help her in it. She too walked ahead of him for pap purposes. They BOTH still sometimes walk ahead of each other for pap purposes. They’ve made NO SECRET about not wanting to be photographed together as to not put any pap’s kid through college or pay their mortgage for the amount the photo would bring because of how they go about getting the photos. HE’S ALWAYS TREATED HER WITH RESPECT, LIKE A LADY AND LIKE SHE’S #1. It’s been reported many times that they’ve held hands, would be kissing in clubs, restaurants or events in full public view but paps aren’t allowed INSIDE to catch those types of flicks. It’s also been reported by many a celeb that they are truly in love and how respectfully he treats her and makes her feel like she’s #1 when you see them together and that they want the type of love they have. HE WAITED ON HER (to have a baby), not she on him even though they were on the same level emotionally as Jay said himself long ago when he professed he loved her and said he was going to marry her – 4 years prior to them getting married. SHE made the decisions of when she would have a baby due to her career. She didn’t do it to lock him down as she already had him. He’s stated many times that the decision was on her. I’m a huge STAN of both and have followed them separately and moreso as a couple since their incarnation and it’s always bothered me when people felt the way they walked (which again was a pap purposeful and also militant type decision) made a statement of how he felt about her. Love your article otherwise.

Great write up! The problem is Beyonce obviously set goals and had a plan for herself that she refused to throw away like so many celebrities AND non-celebrities. That’s whet the hatred stems. There are those that thought having his baby would keep him… wrong. Those that dreamed of happy endings… wrong. Those watching their idols mentally crack under the pressure of stardom. Those making excuses for promiscuity and rampant drug use. And those just downright lonely and miserable. Beyonce is that flashing neon sign outside of their bedroom window that never turns off reminding them that they have failed. What they should be doing is looking at it as a testament that focus dedication and setting boundaries and goals for yourself can reap the rewards you’ve always dreamed about.

Well stated and written. What I would like to add is that it’s evident and clear that Beyonce has a clear sense of “order”. Whether people like it or not, I will say it…. Beyonce carefully planned and crafted a life and lifestyle for herself. She was committed to the natural order of how things “are supposed” to be done: 1. She dated Jay-Z/He courted her. 2. They grew as a couple. 3. They married. 4. They grew as a married couple. 5. They had a child.
All too often, I have found, people get this “order” confused. That can be a huge compromise. Think about it, what’s the urgency in a man marrying a woman if they’ve gotten the greatest gift of all (A child or children) without marriage? I just have a ton of respect for a woman (In this day and age) who takes control of her life, plans it carefully, and refuses to compromise. That’s so rare and lovely.
I’d like to add… I am a 33 year old professional woman, without children, in a committed relationship, to be married in 2013. I was extremely clear in stating for many years that this is my plan for my life. I won’t compromise. I am also a VIRGO! 😉
