Our past leaders opened the door for us, but now that we’re in, what have we done with the opportunities? We’ve made other groups wealthy. Now it’s time to focus on making our community wealthy so we can have the resources to create businesses, which will create jobs and have the funding to solve the other issues in our community. The major problems are no longer outside our community; the major problems now are us. If new leadership doesn’t make economics a major part of its agenda, then it’s missing the most important factor in the Black community, now and in the future.
