In Genesis 3:16, God pronounced he following on Woman:

“I will greatly multiply your sorrow and your conception;
In pain you shall bring forth children;
Your desire shall be for your husband,
And he shall rule over you.”

In the context of the article, could this explain why so many women defend a man that would treat them that way? I no that this is not a biblical discussion and the interpretation is not cur and dry but I thought I would mention it in light of the topic.

Dr. Boyce, you are 100% correct. Though I must admit personally over the last few years my sympathy for women in abusive relationships or who are cheated on has disappeared completely. By staying with a man who commits such acts, they are not only condoning the act, but rewarding it, hence encouraging it in others.
Though on the question of fame I am forced to wonder: How is it that someone like Michael Richards gets completely ostracized from public life for using the n-word, but Chris Brown can beat his girlfriend and its business as usual? Is a racist slur worse than beating a woman? Or is it okay because everyone expects black men to beat their women?

If they are gonna do a duet it should be a song called “Shut up and drive, or I’m ‘ona beat you again”.

Exactly get over it! Parents should be teaching their own children anyway. And they can start by letting them know it is pertinent in life to have your own mind and not follow other people!! I respect that they are leaving their past in the past and are not giving in to the naysayers who if we could only hold up a magnifying glass in their lives! I wonder what we’d find! Why should she care what we, in all of our drama filled lives think! And should this man wear a scarlet letter for the rest of his life?! Comparing Chris Brown to Bobby Brown and Ike Turner… really! LoL! There goes your credibility! I hope that they share true love, and conduct themselves in a manner that proves everyone wrong! Why would you wish anything less for another?! Why would you predict the worse?! The devil is a liar! Either that or… misery loves company!

Oh SHUT UP! It’s her life! Let her do what she wants. I’m not taking any side, but people grow and learn and some people don’t. But at the end of the day, those people have to make decisions for themselves, not for other people in abusive relationships or whatever the case may be. Rihanna is old enough and fully capable of making her own decisions. There are several celebrity couples that have, or had, abusive relationships and went back to their partner because at the end of the day, they did what they wanted to do and not what the public wanted them to do. So how about we just leave Rihanna and Chris Brown’s past where they left it… IN THE PAST!
