There are plenty of reasons why one might become addicted to something. It can be something as simple as hanging out with the wrong crowd. I would say that ultimately it is the person addicted who has to own up to the addiction. Only they can stop the addiction. Any of us that know people who are addicted to something can help out a lot but that person ultimately has to do the work in order to get their life back.

Why is it that we commend Mary J's husband for being the factor in getting her to stop using, but not blame Bobby for being the factor in NOT caring enought to get his wife to stop using. He is the MAN, the husband, he's to protect wife and child. He doesn't get a pass and I would like to think that he wouldn't want one! @Michelle says well you can't blame him because he's been out of her life for 5 years. Too late Michelle, she was already addicted to it. As if she could have said, "well my divorce is final! From this day on I'm drug free! He's gone, I won't be needing this!" There would be no addicts (matter of fact that word wouldn't exist) or alcoholics if it were that easy for them. After 14 plus years the body needs it.

I am bewildered as to how someone goes from using drugs here and there before they are with their husband to a stone cold junkie during the coarse of the marriage... and the husband gets a pass!!! This can't be!! What man out of all the men posting on this site, sits watches his WIFE, not jumpoff or mistress... his WIFE, snorting, sniffing, smoking etc. even while she's pregnant and he gets a pat on the head to say... don't you listen to those people this had nothing to do with you baby. Ummmmm.... MAYBE he could have stopped it dead in its tracks!!! LA Reids ex wife Pebbles (she's a pastor now) gave an interview (I wanna say Vibe or XXL) back during the B.Brown reality show. She had Whitney come to her mansion. She stated that they prayed and she prayed over Whitney and they fasted and prayed and read and sang. She said she felt like she made a connection and was continuing to pray for a breakthrough... a few days later... Guess who came and got his wife!!! For no apparent reason, but to put a halt to this rehabilitation!! Pebbles said that if you go back and look into every rehab stint that Whitney attempted, Bobby was always a factor in getting her to come home. Ya'll can give him a pass all day. He knows and he's suffering right now! It's called conviction!! Cause he didn't just do nothing! He did do something... the wrong thing! He intervened when she at least attempted to try and help herself. She's on an island in rehab and he's on the island in a hotel with one of the island girls. Some of you remember the infamous call Wendy Williams made to the hotel room and he answered and told her off and hung up! Wendy was like how could you be cheating while Whitneys over in rehab trying to get clean. He was like how did you get this number? Wendy even said then... "yeah Bobby's there to make sure that rehab don't go down?" Yep, just like Pebbles said he would! SMH The devil in disguise! I thought him spitting in Whitneys face was low. I'm sure the daughter can look back and tell you some other stories similar to the one Pebbles had. I'm sure he wouldn't want her to write a tell all book! Yes, Whitney did drugs before her husband... it was her husband who aided her in becoming an addict. He don't get a pass in my book. A husband is supposed to protect his loved ones! That's his job!!

Mr. Kelly,

If I recall correctly, shortly after her death you stated in the comments on your website that Vesta had gone specifically to the hotel in which she died to commit suicide. It later came out through several other sources that she had been staying there for some time due to unfortunate circumstances. If you're not bothered by the fact that engaging in speculation without unshakable evidence to back it up is irresponsible at least consider how hurtful such actions are to the families left behind. I can't imagine you would take it kindly if someone was spreading unsubstantiated stories about your departed loved ones.

You should really educated yourself and then check the facts. Teena Marie's death had nothing whatsoever to do with drug abuse. She died as a result of a epileptic seizure. In fact she was on medication for the condition and cut back on the dosage while waiting to see a doctor of alternative medicine because the medication was making her suicidal. The fact that she was on vicodin, for a short time I might add, years ago(2004-2005)had nothing to do with her death. Get your facts straight.

Momo...you are incorrect. She was on drugs prior to meeting Bobby Brown. Whitney was very street when she came to Arista and Clive Davis has said many times how he had to mold her into a diva, she wasn't always one and definitely not always classy.

She and Bobby were more alike than different.

Whitney Houston is responsible for her own demise and her own drug usage over the years, you cannot blame Bobby Brown who have now been out of her life for nearly 5 years.

momo thats just not true, there are various reports, public for all to see from friends of hers way back in the day, stating she was a substance abuser. Even the documentary which aired the other night about her death showed an interview in which she herself stated she'd used drugs back in her early years and before. She called herself a "functioning junkie" and said she was taking cocaine back in the ghetto days - she never was from the ghetto, but the meaning was there - back before she was famous! Way back before she encountered bobby brown!
