I don't see the problem in its use at all. Words only have meaning if you empower them. The term, nigger actually came from egypt and was 'e ntgar': meaning king. Every man during those times believe that were king or god of their destany. Pink (yes I said pink because to be white is to be pure aand to be pure is to be superior) people perversed the word and its meaning when they brought those slaves ships over. We are not 'black', black is not the name of our culture and that's why today we are a lost people in america with no idenity. Stop hopping over brooms during marriages and recognize jesus was beatin into you. Undertand and overstand that we cannot collectively wake up from this mentallity practicing western and eurocentric principle. But, I know that won't happen. To do that would be to let go everything know and were taught here in america as to be truth or fact. Hotep.

Perhaps with this example some will better understand how RIDICULOUS it is to accept being called or referring to yourself as a derogatory racial slur - "chink" was used to describe NBA player Jeremy Lin during an ESPN telecast. He and other Asians didn't come out in SUPPORT of the word, which is a derogatory racial slur; in fact, they SLAMMED its use. Blacks, on the other hand, will come out 50/50 on being called a ni*ga/er!! Half will say (gasp!) they don't mind being called a ni*ga/er while the other half will say (wisely!) it's a no-go and demand respect -- as the Asians and every other race/ethnicity does when it comes to derogatory racial slurs!!! Yes, there are big issues with pride, dignity, and respect within our group, which is why we're the biggest consumers with no understanding of empowerment, entrepreneurship, and being owners!

Slaves were taught to call each other nigga, so they would accept there status as less than human. Today you can most often here the word in the modern day slavery system known as prison. Most Black people are in there for committing crimes against Black people. The easiest person to kill is a nigga. It's easier to kill a nigga than it is to kill a Black man or African American.

Jews made there move after they stopped calling each other kike.
Mexican Americans after they stopped calling each other wetback, teaching their children that Spanish is backward language.
Gays made their move after they stopped calling each other faggot.

Time for us to lose the n-word, and time to lose that other form of slavery known as substance abuse. Time for us to treat each other better (that's free), and spend much money with each other. It's Time to Unite Us www.uniteus.com

Wake up people! Time to teach a new way!

The fact of the matter is that current uses of the n-word cannot erase, transform, eradicate, or successfully [redefine] its authentic, ghastly definition. In fact, if the current use of n**ga could eradicate it of its original meaning then I am sure by now it would be okay for a white person to call me a n**ger but a white person cannot do that because of the history of the word. It is imperative that we come to an understanding that utilizing the word in several different contexts does not change or take the sting out of its true and original meaning, because though words change, history will NEVER change.

For African Americans to think that they can use the word harmlessly without question while others cannot is [irrational]. Only when African Americans STAND up and DEMAND that their own culture stops using the word in any context, will they have the moral authority to insist that the word not be used anywhere else, by anyone else. The word n**ga/n**ger is so stigmatized that trying to redefine it suggests that slavery and oppression never happened. But the fact is...it did.

We need to address the lie and remove the deception and present an image of who and what we can truly be and once were. Slaves were descendants of those responsible for arts, science and use of speech and the creation of tremendous civilizations.

The N-word is the ultimate expression of white racism and white superiority, irrespective of the way it is pronounced or spelled. N**ga persists because it is used over and over again, by the very people it defames. It was and remains a term of repugnancy.

Nothing in all the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity.

You totally missed the point Lewis, he stated clearly, "I know the word n**ga as an admonishment, an endearment, a criticism and an invective. So I use it; I don’t run from it."

Words, or idiomatic expressions, have NO MEANING OUTSIDE OF THE MEANING THAT THE GROUPS WHO USE THEM SAY THEY HAVE!

For example, if an isolated tribe used the term nigga to identify a local fruit, what would that word mean? It would mean a local fruit. We GIVE words meaning, words don't have meaning outside of what we give them.

So to Samuel's point. How he identified the word along with those who he utilizes it with and the context in which he uses it has a different meaning and context. To him it is all those things I requoted above.

Well dude I agree with the Mr Jackson. In the minds of white folks you are still a nigga and that is all that you will be. We are still searching for what to call ourselves and some of us haven't grown past being Just a regular ole real nigga's. Some of us still understand that we control no destiny, white people control everything so even those of us who are "well off" in the end are nothing but a nigga. That being said all that crap you was talkin about was because white folks feel uncomfortable about using the N-word so once again they want to dictate to us what we should be comfortable saying. We had to kick a lotta ass to get them to believe that calling us Niggas would not be tolerated. But I think some of you young people and educated people need to revisit Carter G. Woodson's book, The Mis-education Of The Negro and stop letting white folks tell you what your sensibilities already know. I listen to speeches from Malcolm and King of the 60's and the same things still apply, so nothing has really changed. Just that white folks can't call us the N-word anymore. Jackson was absolutely right.

Mr. James Davis,

Thanks for sharing your political point of views, it’s most unfortunate that you don’t usher forth the same active voice when it comes to our self-denigration and use of the n-word. Your failure to speak out as loudly against use of the n-word as you so eagerly do against Obama speaks volumes about your priorities and or a lack thereof.

Supporting Any Politician Based On His Skin Color Is Racist!!

Additionally supporting a politician because of his abilities is a scary proposition. Granted our President has abilities. Samuel Jackson has abilities as you said he does, “I have nothing but the deepest respect for and admiration of your acting abilities." Nevertheless, you were critical of him because of the way he used the n-word, or more to the point how he used his "abilities." You are not supportive of Mr. Jackson and his "abilities" but yet, you turn around and say we should support Mr. Obama because he has abilities, "Those in Black America that originally supported Obama must continue supporting him ..... because of their belief in his abilities." You see, what is wrong with your logic, and the logic of many brothers and sisters like you is that it is flawed. Our support for this President should be based on results, not abilities. It is in the results area, this President is a dismal failure when it comes to the Black community. Three years of double digit Black unemployment and now headed into a fourth year under this President speaks volumes about his record. It would not be so darn bad, except these horrific numbers are among his biggest supporters. Yet, this President does not even mention our dilemma. The normal response from people like you is the President cannot do anything because of those obstructionist Republicans. There is absolutely nothing preventing and I say again nothing from preventing this President from presenting a clear vision of a Job Creation Plan to this nation. You see, the Republican may not like it, but they cannot prevent his presentation of it. By the way, the American Jobs Act doesn’t qualify as a job creation plan, as it simply involved Mr. Obama using federal dollars to hire police officers, fire fighters, teachers and construction workers. It was in effect an expansion of the federal payroll. Unless you can put every unemployed person on the federal payroll, and that’s impossible, it is not a job creation plan. If we could just turn the thinking of brothers and sisters like you around and get you all along with people like me to say in one voice, “Mr. President in order for you to get our vote,
show us your Job Creation Plan for the nation and by inference, the Black community.” The Black community if you did not realize it is in the worst shape since the Great Depression. It’s time for people who say they represent our interest to step up to the bat. If not now, when? www.sslumpsum.com

Mr. Samuel Jackson is a clear example of why America keeps us around..

They can always depend on a shuffling, backstabbing, bigmouth to stir the caldron of racism so that they don't come off as the trouble makers. America realizes that because we are scattered around the world, and even within our own communities, there is always the possibility and promise even, of having a representative put his foot in his mouth while patting "ole massa" on the back.

What a joy it must be for those who have worked tirelessly to keep our
people down to see and hear one of our own "turn the hands of time back"
to a time when we couldn't lace a bunch of words together without turning
ourselves into spectacles.

It is always said that any great organization will never be demolished
from without, always from within. White folk have never forgotten that "a wise man keeps his friends close...but his enemies closer" and many have
eaten straight from the captives hand, those such as Mr. Jackson-

Mr. Jackson has no problem presenting a united front when it's time to sell movie tickets. I have never heard him (or had it reported) use the N-word, when his money is on the line- When it is important for his benefactors to make back the funds spent on him to produce Hollywood blockbusters, Mr. Samuel L. Jackson's mouth is "paid in full" and he says what he is told to say. After all actors make their money acting like a tape recorder, spitting back what was written for them to say.

I for one am looking for the day when peoples conscious, acts as that "tape recorder" and reminds the mouth that when it speaks, it has a responsibility. That responsibility is to uplift, respect, and exhibit an intellect that would make our ancestors as well as our community proud.

It is about time society knows that there are others of us out here that
are not amused at Mr. Samuel L. Jackson.

I have never heard him (or had it reported) use the N-word, when his money is on the line- When it is important for his benefactors to make back the funds spent on him to produce Hollywood blockbusters, Mr. Samuel L. Jackson’s mouth is “paid in full” and he says what he is told to say. After all actors make their money acting like a tape recorder, spitting back what was written for them to say.

I for one am looking for the day when peoples conscious, acts as that “tape recorder” and reminds the mouth that when it speaks, it has a responsibility. That responsibility is to uplift, respect, and exhibit an intellect that would make our ancestors as well as our community proud.

It is about time society knows that there are others of us out here that
are not amused at Mr. Samuel L. Jackson.
