The GOP doesn’t have a Candidate that has a chance to win over the true independent voters. What they do have is (the 1%) a lot of money (Citizens United) and the capacity to do anything (Bush/Gore) to put conservatives in office. Keeping control of the Senate and winning control of the House of Representatives are two battles that have to be won.
