I’m a pretty dark skinned, natural hair wearing female and it KILLS me every single time this happens because the next comment is “You dark skinned anyway, don’t nobody want your raggedy looking ass, you look like a slave” etc. We need to stop this. We can’t lump all men together but we need to stop pretending this degradation doesn’t happen enough times for this to be a concern.

As a black male I see this type of behavior all the time, it is disrespectable to hit on women in this manner BUT, YES BUT, if I had a dollar every time I saw black men talk to black women this way and the woman responded in a positive manner I would have a nice amount of time. The real problem is that many black women talk from the side their neck when it’s convenient.

Black Men “in general” have no respect for black women. I have watched these same Black Men put white women on a pedestal. I suspect this behavior will run to infinity.

I understand what you are going through. Sadly when I was a teenager I experienced that a lot. I can remember seeing a group of men or young boys across. I would cross the street so I would not have to walk through the crowd. I dealt with cat calls, jeers and was even told “bitch don’t nobody want to talk to you anyway.” I just kept it moving. I know that all black men are not like that. It only takes one bad apple to spoil the whole bunch, but we can’t lump all men together.
