This article is brilliantly written and addresses something that I have been concerned about since the scandal broke, that most of the victims were likely black. As you stated, their race doesn’t matter but it strikes a chord with me because it may be why the abuse wasn’t taken seriously early on and why the boys didn’t come forward earlier. After all, “it’s easy to get away with the unthinkable when you go after the victim that no one cares about.” <-That right there breaks my heart.

Very well written. I have wondered as well about the race of these boys. As noted, black children usually dont provoke the same outrage in crisis. Nevertheless, on the other side, when can we become more responsible in our community so that our orphan children just dont become orphans — prey to any lunatic? Whether a teenage mom or self-attesting independent women, at some point, it shouldnt be our right to have babies just because we want to without the committment. babies have a right to family but often dont get it.
