This reinforces why it’s important to have unions. Such an action would have never happened at the airlines, at a government agency or other union employer. Union companies have very generous family leave policies that will allow any worker to take time off with pay to deal with a serious illness or death of a close family member. Not only should the boycott continue, but should spread to McDonalds nationwide until McDonalds rehires the man fired and use its economic power to make sure McAllister is rehired as well.
