The NAACP has totaly lost me on this!! What are they thinking? Also to the Editors of ThyBlackman.com. Thank you for giving space to both The Left & Right Black viewpoint. I do no go to TheGrio or Root anymore. They only want to promote Black Liberals. I want to hear both sides(even if I disagree).

I agree! And I echo Michelle’s comment about education being the great equalizer. However, knowledge in and of itself is not a powerful thing. It’s what we do with that knowledge that gives it value. I sometimes enjoy watching shows like those that Michelle appears on, but watching them without becoming involved in the conversation in a productive way only serves the sponsors. It does not serve people. It’s time to watch and learn, but also to share, comment, challenge, and most importantly, to DO SOMETHING proactive — to create something important — using the information we take in and the examples we see as a starting point. Thank you for your blog, and for the opportunity to comment.

This well-written article could not only apply to supporters of the NAACP, but to anyone who believes that government can or should take care of them. When you depend on anyone other than yourself, you lose. When you have fewer choices, you lose. The very nature of government involvement and regulation in every aspect of our lives is precisely what keeps poor people poor, as Walter Williams reminds us in “The State Against Blacks”. Take off the handcuffs of every form and watch the poor rise from the ashes.

This article is very well written, and helps to break the constant barrier that Americans face in politics today. And that is voting based on party, for no other reason than to say you are democrat or republican. As soon as people of all walks of life realize that we need to vote for the best overall candidate and not the best candidate within ones party, we will have a government that works for the people. It is sad however to see how much money Unions and other advocate groups give to political campaigns to hold onto their own power while hurting the very people that support them.
