A 401k has high contribution amounts and often a company match, so it&#039;s an excellent way to build up a large retirement portfolio quickly.  But it will be taxable at distribution.

The Roth IRA is self directed, generally has more investment options, and can be withdrawn tax free after 59.5.  That gives important tax diversification, so you aren&#039;t paying MORE tax when you retire.]]></description>
