You should consider each service item individually and compare to other funeral homes. Start with the Basic Services of the Funeral Director and Staff, a individual funeral home may call these services by another name, but these services are legally called Non-Declinable Services. They are the services that require a funeral directors license. You then can chose the services you want and supply the services you are able to supply yourself. For instance, that limousine to accommodate the family or the casket. Feel free to contact me by telephone or E-Mail and I can answer any further question you may have. Look for may next article about VA Burial Benefits. On thyblackman.com

Thanks for the insight I am constantly leery about businesses that can't give you a price until you've answered all of their probing questions that have nothing to do with the matter at hand. What would you suggest to a family when planning a loved ones funeral. Is it really more cost effective to go for a package (that's what the funeral homes have told me) or should we go through each service, item individually and choose what fits our needs?
